All the best young man. Punch straight, keep that chin down. Keep your lead foot outside his and move to your left. You already know based on experience that he will key in on getting you to move the other way.
Wear ear plugs. The construction floor type so you can still hear the team. Pop them out when the ref calls you to the centre for instructions. I cant imagine the hostile crowds for these encounters. I'd fold like a Walmart lawn chair.
Lost on points guys. It was my toughest fight to date. Start off at the weigh in I was told be 13 stone and he weighed in at 13 stone 7 which didn't help at all. He had a 4 inch height advantage and very long Southpaw reach. He kept me on his jab and I couldn't get my punches off. He was too awkward to hit and controlled the fight from the off. Never been like that in a fight before where I couldn't really throw. He won all three rounds.
On the positive side though. I've not got a mark on me. My defence was really tight and I didn't get hit much at all. He just landed more and I didn't throw enough to score. Was too hard I put my hands up and can say I didn't enjoy that at all was very frustrating.
But that fights in the past now, I won't have fights like that very often. I'm back in the ring Friday and you will all hear of a big performance from me I can promise you that. Same with the week after. Two home fights against orthodox fighters , I'll be back to winning ways. This hasn't knocked my confidence at all, it's just made me more hungry to win and fight people my size and not southpaws.
Good to stay positive, move forward and on wards.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
Well done!
Im 5,9 and had to fight a lad who was 6,5" in my 5th fight and he had 30 odd! I felt like a little kid, couldnt really do much. I did however have a rematch with him about 10 figts later and did much better, although still lost on points. He told my coach after he found it much more difficult to box me because I was moving my head alot more and working my way in under his punches.
