Why did he not tell broner he was getting beat after 4 rounds?
What other trainer might improve his gun shy style?

He needs Roger Mayweather or Floyd Sr. The guy can't fight going backwards and he needs to learn how to do that if he's going to fight at a higher weight, maybe learn how to jab? He also shouldn't be fighting above 140. In the 3 times he's done it, he's struggled. 135/140 should be his home now. He also needs someone to reign in his dickhead personality and get him to knuckle the fuck down. I hate it when ill discipline stops a fighter reaching potential.
Wasn't Broner's trainer on his ass most of the fight? I remember him screaming at Adrien "YOU'RE FIGHTING THE WRONG FIGHT!"

That was helpful. He was fighting the way he always fights. To me that suggests he hasn't been taught. Bottom line is they saw a new Mayweather and tried to fast track him to superstardom before he was ready. Having him jump 3 weights divisions in a year was plain dumb.
Not sure but I remember him saying it or something to that effect, for sure.

[QUOTE=bzkfn;1334367]Yeah I agree that they pushed him way to early. He should be at 140, he's still a VERY strong guy at those higher weights.
To be fair to his trainers though, a lot of times a guy learns new tricks in the gym and just reverts back to his old ways in the ring. Some guys never seem to listen to their corners: they get good advice between rounds and just trudge out and do the exact same thing they've been doing and fall further behind.
Broner's a strong personality and has an ego second to only Mayweather. He's probably one of those dolts too arrogant to take the advice. Problem is, he doesn't have Mayweather's ring IQ to go figure shit out on his own.

Fair enough.
I still feel as though broner calls the shots in his corner and its great that he wants to jump up to 147 and be with the bigger boys but he needs to chill for a couple of years.
Fight garcia ffs.
Either broner wants to cash out and cant be bothered anymore or that maidana fight put him through more stress than hes letting on!
I like Broner in a way because he's entertaining. However, he needs to drop back to 140 and find his identity in the ring. He might need a different trainer too to work with him. I also don't think he needs a defensive specialist. I think he's most successful when he is offensive. Maybe a Robert Garcia or a Nazim Richardson. PBC also needs better matchmakers. Maidana conclusively beat up Broner and then they match him with another tough, brawler in Porter. He should have stayed at 140, and fought someone like Algieri, and continued to rack up wins. Perhaps though he's just been overrated all along, and it was just a matter of time.
It's a good thing Broner didn't pursue a team sport that requires coaching (basketball, football, baseball), or else he would have been run out of the league.
See I agree he is most effective when offensive but thats the problem (excuse the pun). He has no plan b and when a fighter who only knows forward and is stronger than him comes at him, he has no clue what to do. He needs a better defense and he needs to learn how to fight goin backwards. If he could have learnt how to punch when Porter came in, he'd have softened him up to the point where Porter wouldn't want to come forward anymore and then he could have played his game.
Some of you keep saying Broner should stay at 140. The problem is he doesn't seem to have the work ethic to maintain that weight. At 147 his overrated defense will be exposed even more by bigger punchers. His wide stance and flat footed style don't do him any favors. He is VERY hook happy. He does not posses a great right hand AT ALL. Combine that with his lack of great work ethic and low ring IQ....i think it's safe to say he has been greatly over hyped. As i have always said...before Floyd was MONEY...he had the foundation of a tremendous pedigree, skill set, and work ethic. Broner wants what Floyd has...but without the hard work and skill set.
Showed in the 12 round he had the power to hurt Porter but he should of been more aggressive. Pretty much whole fight was backing up and getting hit needs to figure out what kinda of fighter he is. Also he needs to go in attack mode if he can not box the guy worth a shit either.
Can he make 140lb? He looks too big boned to do that and at welterweight he is not skilled enough to beat the brawlers.
Do not let success go to your head and do not let failure get to your heart.
