Default Loeffler Ain't doing his man any favours.

    Golovkin's Promoter: We'd Fight Ward at 164, 50-50 Split - Boxing News

So Golovkin's promoter is shouting his mouth off again. "Out of respect for Froch's Achievements", he wouldn't ask Froch to step down in weight, But he expects Ward to go down to 164lb!!!!! What a fucking tool. and all this A-Side, B-Side bollocks.
I am a fan of GGG and I rate him highly. I've defended him numerous times on this forum, But his promoter's comments will be seen by anti-GGG people as the words of Golovkin, and will make him look like a ducking, lying bullshitter.
If I was GGG, I'd be on the phone to Loeffler to rein the fucker in.

What he's saying is - they'll fight Ward with a 50/50 split at 164 but as Golovkin is the bigger draw - TV and ticket wise - they deserve a bigger cut to fight at 168.

They couldn't make the same demands with Froch as he brings more to the table than them - PPV/Stadium (unless Loeffler really did ask for the catchweight as Froch said )

That is not what he's saying. I'm amazed someone can still deny what is and has been plain to see for years, GGGs people want absolutely nothing to do with fighting Ward. Which would be fine if they would just say it. But instead they've been talking out of both sides of their mouths for years.

What is he saying then? They obviously want to be compensated for moving up to 168. It is a compliment to Andre Ward.

Be no different if Ward stepped up to face Kovalev.

This is exactly what I mean! Different opinions on what GGG wants and doesn't want based on what his big mouth promoter is saying. It has a bearing on what people think of GGG.

GGG just needs to keep busy and smashing opponents. As long as he is doing that and not being distracted we will look back on his career with happiness.

They are trying to act like they want the fight without showing any true intent. And fans keep misrepresenting what is happening. I'll rehash it

GGG(I'll just say his name rather than his trainer or his promoter or his manager for the sake of simplicity) has said anyone from 154 to 175. And fans say "he was willing to go to 168 for Froch or Chavez because they are draws" that's a misrepresentation of reasoning and timeframe he has been willing to go to 168. He has been talking about it since 2011 against Steiglitz(spelling?). That's 5 years they have been talking about it and draws to nobodies he has been willing to move for.

Ward said "I'll say his name and watch all the excuses" that was in 2012. And that's when all the "we're focused on cleaning out Middleweight" stuff started. Not soon after, immediately that was their reply. So Ward was dead on.

So the "clean out Middleweight" thing continued. But then Chavez got to 168 and they were willing to go there for him. He couldn't get that, mind you he still said he wanted it after Chavez got destroyed. Their plan B was Froch and again they were willing to go to 168.(although Froch said they asked for 164 with him too, so maybe GGGs people are simply liars when you consider they ask for the exact same thing with Ward that they denied asking for with Froch) so now they have multiple guys they will go to 168 for they say. But not Ward.

Beyond that they say 50/50 because GGG is the draw. That's true but it skips the more meaningful truth. Ward gets paid more than GGG. So for Ward to give GGG 50/50 he would have to take a pay cut because GGGs extra money he wants has to come from somewhere. So their offer is GGG will get a career high payday while Ward takes a pay cut and has to cut weight.

Fans compare this to Floyd having Canelo cut to 152. But Canelo is a young man, cutting weight is easier for a young man. And Floyd was offering Canelo a career high payday. So Canelo cuts an extra 2lbs from his previous weight. But Ward would be cutting 8lbs from his previous weight! Ward is worried about getting back to 168 and smartly getting back down slowly but they ask for 164! At a PAY CUT. They need to GTFOOH with that.

Keep in mind Floyd started at 130, a man that started at 130 asking a guy to cut 2lbs to 152 is not remotely the same as a man who fought at 165 11 years ago asking a man to cut 8lbs to 164.

I don't think GGG needs to fight Ward. If he wants to be great he needs to beat great fighters that does not mean he is required to fight Ward. But I would have a hell of a lot more respect for him if they would admit they don't want it because it is obvious. This is my problem with all boxings "boogeymen", it's always conditional. Boxers are very very rarely scared of boxers, they do what makes sense. If a Ward fight doesn't make sense for them then they should just say so. But instead they are attempting to mislead and GGG is popular so many are willing to believe even the most obvious BS. Asking a man to cut 8lbs for a pay cut, that is asking out of a fight.

Pay cut? Ward would be on a career high payday if he fought Golovkin.

Whether or not the truth is that Golovkin is "ducking" Ward, he's not the one that HBO dropped because he requested a few "gimme" fights.
