The best way to judge this one is to review the fights thy had with common opponents, one in particular the one that calls himself money. He talked a great deal of shit. One of them went for a ride on the money train while the other showed sluggers how to get inside. One is young and a good fighter but not impressive while the other is a veteran that moved up on the scale. The so called bigger man Canelo called for a catch weight then challenging for a title with an established weight he and others like him have no right to do. If you challenge middleweight then fight a middleweight. Advantage to the challenger who asks the question, "Do these trunks make my as look fat?"

The fight is for the Middleweight Championship of the World, arguably the most important title for the 'insiders' of the sport. The champ is probably the underdog, so no, it is clearly not overrated!

I don't think it will be a bad fight but I also don't at all think it will be a great fight. Cotto will not slug it out with Canelo. He knows he will lose if he does that. He will pick his shots and circle. He won't let Canelo set his feet. That means that Canelo will really never get to swing full force.

As the fight draws near, I'm thinking that Cotto will win a comfortable decision.

I cant see how this fight could be overrated when you consider duds like Manny/Floyd and the mismatches that continue. What muddied the waters in this one was all the middleweight BS which in the end even gets reduced further as anything meaningful because of the late in the day spoils. Its not even a paper title anymore given the circumstances. I maintained from the beginning that the belt should have been vacated cause the fight didn't need it. Now its a consolation prize. They should just mass produce them and sell them at Walmart.

I think its going to be one of the best fights of the year just because of the style matchup. So similar. Both like to hook and its one of the best rivalries in all of sport. They never needed the false advertising. That is what makes the latest moves by Cotto so puzzling. The timing is simply confusing. The Wbc still allowing their son to fight for a dropped title given their ranking system and the deal struck with Golovkin is outrageous. Its amazing to me that they have not been investigated on a host of fraud and corruption charges. What Sulaiman Jr has done is no different then what Bob Lee Sr. did and was convicted for in 1999. Also Alvarez has made it clear he's not a middle and has no plans on defending at 160 so he should have simply declined on a shot at a dropped title. Let the real middleweights fight for it.Hopefully Alvarez has a moment of lucidity and hands the belt back should he win the fight

Looking forward to the fight and and its got a little Tito/Fernando feel to it.

I think its a bit underrated. The whole PPV thing is just bullshit to me I think it kind of hurts boxing. When you pay 60 bucks for a card you want a full card of at least 3-4 good fights, and when the main event turns out shitty it just leaves you with a sour taste. I do like this main event won't be watching it on PPV though. I like Cotto a lil bit now, I used to think he was overrated. Don't care too much for Canelo. I think Canelo is gonna win it though. I have ever seen Canelo hurt though, only out boxed. A sharp boxing Cotto could pull it out.

I wonder if Cotto would have survived 50 flIghts in Yesterday's era. I don't think Alvarez could...but he is still writing his legacy.

Ever Wonder how today's Fighters are considered past it or in too many wars with less than 50 Fights? yet the previous eras: The Henry Armstrong Archie Moore era...those guys were durable past 100 fights.

The last great durable Fighter James Toney was still formidable past 70 fights. During his prime could Fight 7 -8 times a year year after year.
Yet Cotto was considered damaged by 40 fights.

Cotto has been in a lot of wars, been knocked down, cut and knocked out. He has a lot of milage but he has reinvented himself after rested for long periods and faced relatively easy fights recently which has lenghthed his career.

I understand that this is a big Mexican-Puerto Rican rivalry fight but the future will tell us how memorable it will be. If Cotto wins by outboxing him and then Canelo never reaches that greatness level, it won't really matter. If canelo wins and becomes great then it will become an important fight in history.

Sounds like Cotto loses no matter what happens.

I'm up for this fight. This fight is more than Cotto the boxer and Canelo the punch. Canelo is now 25 and has some skill to go along with his power. Plus he is a killer body puncher. Cotto has been in with the worlds best fighters. He's been on a hot streak winning the MW title. I think Canelo breaks Cotto down and stops him in the 10th.

Amazing! Cotto has the strap and is the "lineal" champion at the weight above, yet he is the smaller man! You couldn't make this shit up!
