Default How long will Deontay Wilder avoid the top heavyweights?

Will Deontay Wilder ever fight someone like Ortiz, Fury, Povetkin, or Joshua?

Or will he continue to take "safe" fights, choosing journeyman opponents like Molina and DuHaupas, or fringe contenders like Szpilka who are not in the top ten?

    Wilder is age 30 now.

There's always 1 guy who refuses to fight the best. For a long time it was the WBA title holders post lennox Lewis: Evander Holyfield, John Ruiz, Roy Jones Jr., John Ruiz, James Toney (didn't get to keep the belt), John Ruiz/Nicolai Valuev, Ruslan Chagaev (had belt stolen from him), Nicolai Valuev, and then FINALLY David Haye won it and decided to fight Wladimir after Wladimir had already just thrashed Ruslan Chagaev who was the rightful owner of the belt.

But yeah the WBC belt has fallen into the same circumstance post Vitali. Bermane Stiverne, Deontay Wilder. It's early in Wilder's reign but Molina, Duhaupas, and Szpilka don't really inspire much respect for a guy holding a belt.

    Watch Szpilka upset him lol

I like wilder and he's exciting but this should be the last soft title defense.

I actually think spilka is a decent fight for him and a definite step up. If he wins though, he needs to fight the best available opponent next.

It's embarrassing really. This self styled "Booooooooomb Squad!!" And he's not even trying to fight anyone decent. Still if you look at champions in all the divisions, he's not doing anything out of the ordinary. They all do it.

The question is can the real King Kong withstand the BOMB SQUAD!?

Will the bombs detonate or just bounce off his chest as he scales the Empire State Building?

Wilders defense is horrendous but this is a decent opponent for him. That said Jennings got to him first and battered him. Rival sanctioning Ibf farce title fight on the same card with Martin vs Glazkov? Wilders next opponent may be closer than we think.

That's a troll site. That article was amusing though.

Not one mention of AJ yet Dillian Whyte is no.1

So anti Fury too. I get people not liking him but he just beat an ATG in Wlad.

The "writer" purposely does anti-Brit posts.

Fury is THE top heavyweight in the world whether or not anyone thinks there are fighters that can beat him. He's the man that beat the man. (personally I think AJ would iron him but that's irrelevant at this stage)

Articles like this are barely worth commenting on, and I feel a bit of a twat doing so.
The thing is everyone can have an opinion, but please if you want to be taken seriously, leave emotional bias out of it, and a fact or 2 doesn't go amiss. I mean, Dillian Whyte #1, Pulev above Wlad even though Wlad Ironed him out, and Fury not in the top 10!
"Fury's not in the top 10 because I don't rate him!" Ok Einstein, I'm not his biggest fan, but he just beat Wlad in his last fight, so he has to rank above him for starters.
Anyway, it's fucking Christmas so I ain't going on no more.

First off, Joshua is NOT a top heavyweight. He is a top prospect. Joshua is no better or worse than the Parker's, Tepper's, Mansour's and Martin's of this world. In fact, to me, he has trouble with Parker, gets chinned by Tepper and Mansour, and will have a dog fight with Martin to the bitter end. Shoots, put him in with Derek Bryant.... that oughta be nice. Or even a Gerald Washington. These guys in no way, shape or form are any challenge to the Ortiz's, Wlad's, Fury's and Povetkin's of this world.

With that being said, most likely Wilder takes the winner of the Glazkov/Martin IBF title fight. Not exactly top flight guys, but both would certainly be better than the guys he has faced in his title run.
    Bigger man George, bigger punch!

As long as he is allowed too.

Povetkin gives him a good fight, Ortiz beats his ass and AJ will wipe him away.

    Fury would beat him too.

Says the man who was adamant Quillin was better then Golovkin.

Beating Whyte puts AJ above prospect level. US heavies are very poor. I doubt any bar Wilder would beat Whyte.
