I liked this one, co-written and with lead vocals by Glen Frey:

I read the obituary in my local paper today, every singe entry moved me considerably more than this does. Of course I don't wish suffering on anyone, but if it has to be someone, any member of the Eagles is better than your average person for me. Man they were poop.

great band, also Buffin the drummer for Mott the Hoople died on Sunday night as well

I'm more gutted about Buffin, I fucking love Mott the Hoople.

i say we get a super band going

    Drums - Buffin
    Bass - Lemmy
    Lead guitar - Glenn Frey
Vocal + rythm guitar - David Bowie

that would have been pretty interesting

My band, (I don't play much anymore) but see used to play quite a few eagles songs. They were relatively easy to play and people enjoyed hearing them. Frey definitely put his name in the books, rip.

I fail to see how anybody dying is ever a good thing.
Here's an interesting take on Frey's death.

You mourned David Bowie, but you mock Glenn Frey. Why? | Music | The Guardian

@TitoFan , I'm not going to read that article, and I agree nobody should mock Glen frey directly(even if maybe I did) If you don't personally know someone, then you're only going to mourn them if something they did or put out there in life moved you or people around you, otherwise it's no different than anyone else dying anywhere. I'm not a huge Bowie fan, but he was undeniably innovative and talented, and I enjoyed listening to his music. The Eagles? Yeah right.

I have not seen one Joke about Frey. Not even from X, although true to form he shared one about Bowie :-)

I dont listen to The Eagles so do not know much about Frey. What is with everyone dying? It really hits home how fragile life is.

Part of it is we are all getting older and so those dying are often our contemporaries, or those of the generation before us, whose art/music/achievements etc we enjoyed.

I feel a sense of sadness (mourning is stronger and is reserved for friends and family) when any famous musician dies.
Slightly less so when it's a rapper.

Coincidentally, they had been showing the documentary History of the Eagles on Showtime even before Frey died.

As with any musical group, the Eagles had their fans and their haters. What is fairly unarguable is that they were a hugely popular group in their time, and helped define a generation of music fans. I myself find their music easy to listen to, although I don't like all their songs. It brings back memories, as music tends to do.
