Lucas Matthysse Admits No Desire To Fight, May Not Return - Boxing News

This is a shame, he was a warrior and a very exciting fighter to watch. If he doesn't have the desire , he doesn't and fair enough he's accepted that.

Hopefully he has put his money to good use and can stay comfortable in whatever is next for him. It is a shame, he was good to watch and a nice fella.

That's to bad if he never got a big payday, he looked like such a killer for a while and was never in a bad fight, but never quite put everything together in his big chances. I'd still love to see him fight Maidana, even if its a battle of two guys who don't care about boxing anymore

Hate to see him go as he's always come off down to Earth and must see competitor. Really though it's oddly refreshing hearing a guy get in front of it and be straight instead of knowing it wasn't there before the bell and simply lending his scalp for coin. Theory is if he's talking about it, maybe its just a time off thing. Helluva battler!

He was a fighter that I kept expecting to make it to that next level but never did. Good fighter though and always exciting.

Had he beaten Garcia soundly, it would have been Matthysse against Mayweather instead of Maidana. That was the plan anyway

I wondered that, but why wasn't it Garcia vs Mayweather then?

He was never the same after suffering the eye injury against Garcia. Think in every fight since you can hear the corner telling him his eye is fine, it clearly bothered him big time.

He might not have made millions but he seemed pretty content about raising his daughter and setting up his own gym.

Have to hand to him and his compatriot Maidana for getting out when the getting was good, Maidana no doubt with the bigger account balance. I think the boxing establishment fell asleep at the wheel in not matching the two of them. They must have had a silent agreement.

Plus he'll make a killing on the exchange rate if he lives out the rest of his life in Argentina, outside buenos aires. After the provo fight, he made 500k for Postol. (1 USD = 14.5560 Argentinian Pesos). So lets say he walks away with about half after paying his promoter, trainer, etc etc. (Chances are it might be a little less) . 250k in usd would give him 3,639,000 Argentinian Pesos.
They want your @$$ beat because upsets make news. News brings about excitement, excitement brings about ratings. The objective is to bring you up to the tower and tear your @$$ down. And if you don't believe that, you're crazy.

It just seems he needs a long rest and needs to recoup his batteries to get his hunger back.

Then again everyone knows he has money, that is a dangerous thing. So he will need security for him and his family. That adds up. Hopefully he has a sound strategy for his money going forward.
