I've seen a lot of dodgy scoring. The Irish bantam weight boxer (Michael Conlan) was robbed in his quarter final fight against the Russian guy (Vladamir Nikitin). You only need to look at the shock on Russians face to see so and the crowds reaction.

I just saw Gary Russell (USA rep at light welter) robbed against the Uzbekistan boxer (Fazliddin Gaibnazarov ). The Uzbekistan boxer was dead on his feet on the end and ran all night. But I suppose that's amateur boxing. The judges heavily reward pitta-pat hit and run shit. They get the first round in the bag, then hang on.

The hype is real about Shakur Stevenson (USA rep at Bantam and the last USA boxer standing). He looks an absolute genius in the ring. He will more than likely fight the reigning cuban Olympic champ (Robeisy Ramírez) in the final (Can't see the Russian troubling Stevenson to much in the semi) they are two outstanding boxers in the tournament and they just happen to be in the same weight division.

I don't normally get excited by amateur boxing but that's a fight I for sure want to see

I know Joe Joyce (UK rep at super heavy) stopped his first opponent. But I have not been impressed him. Future Anthony Joshua he is not. I like Joshua Buatsi (UK rep at light heavy) but he's facing a Kazak in the semi final and as I say judges love all them Borat fighters

From what Ive seen Stevenson hasnt a hope against Nikitin. Conlon beat him black a blue and some how didnt get the decision. Such a shame. The 3 elite fighters in that weight class are Conlan, Stevenson adn Ramirez. We may not see any of them fight going by the judges so far.

Side note should watch Conlons interview on RTE after the fight. Told it as it is.

We all know boxing has always been a shady sport but this is "Allegedly" not just happening at the Olympics but happening at Olympic qualifying level as well.
Makes you wonder just how many possible future greats are/have been fucked over and simply lost faith and turned their back on the sport not just now but in years gone bye
Better off with soccer, Basketball, American football etc. why waste a sportsmans life to get ripped by promoters who don't give a fuck

Conlan was robbed but went out with an epic interview.

Buatsi couldn't land a glove on the Kazak but sure did make a name for himself.

Nikitin has had to pull out of his SF fight v Stevenson. The beating he got off Conlon left him unable to compete. Stevenson straight into final.

Does Nikitin still get his medal if he doesn't make it into the ring for his semi final? The echoes of 'robbery' grow ever louder.

Just read an Irish fighter asked Putin how much did it cost to bribe the officials.

Caught the Conlan win turned strong arm job. Something needed to change with scoring system but amateurs judging on professional criteria on the world stage just insures Bob Arum will want them appointed next weekend. The money and influence push are only growing bigger, professional changes and participation of actual contenders and guys granted title shots in 'pro' debut only blurs the lines and invites bullshit imo.
