Marcos Maidana Retires: Latest Comments and Reaction | Bleacher Report

Pretty good record for someone who was seen as a limited fighter. Will he stay retired? How long is a piece of string?

We all thank him for embarrassing Broner and pushing Floyd to the limit in that first fight.

Exposed Ortiz as lacking in fortitude as well.

Thank you Maidana. You the man.

Maidana should be proud of what he accomplished. He came in as a sacrificial lamb for Ortiz and made him quit. Then slowly made a name for himself by working on his skills and becoming better. He wasn't the greatest talent, but he had a ton of heart and determination.

He was a great story, and no better way to go out. For the way his career started and the fact that he had some bad losses and took damage, he actually finished up as anything but limited. Very rare to see an all action type who legit improves the way he did. I'd still pay good money to see him rematch Broner outside of a bowling alley.

Good for him. He seems to have a sensible head on him and don't think he will come back. He had a good career, made some exciting fights, beat Mayweather once. You can't ask for more than that really.

Class act who repeatedly earned his spot and improved his game at end and left on his own terms. What more can a guy aim for. Chino surpassed Argentina in a way and did the sport proud. Glad he took time before making official.

Fondest moment for me was my vacation in Hawaii , I was at the poolside bar watching him kick the crap out of Broner . Made a great vacation even better lol.

It's an almost perfect boxing story (as long as he doesn't come back or go skint). He was always in cracking fights, always the b-side, but in the end he earned himself a boatload of dosh with two final massive paydays, then fucked off to get fat. Legend.

Anyone who makes Floyd winge like a girl and punches him in the balls is a legend in my eyes.

Brilliant fighter.. Pushed Floyd, embarrased Broner and two handfuls of other great fights.

Slightly younger than I'd like to see him retire, I was certain he'd throw at least one more title push out there but still a great career!

    Well played champ!

    Enjoy your retirement!
