Simple Pleasures

Posted 03-31-2008 at 05:41 AM by miles
Life in Korea is okay, you know. Its very different to back home in the UK but a place is really just a place. I spend much of my time either working or else at home. Within the home and with the curtains closed it isnt really Korea at all. Its Milesville. BBC on the TV, internet hooked up to familiar places like this, British Sea Power on the stereo, Shakespeare and Wilde on the bookshelves. Home comforts, simple pleasures that make living away in what may be percieved as a strange place so much...

Pointless things

Posted 03-30-2008 at 02:12 PM by miles
This weekend has been okay but I haven't really done anything. A somewhat pointless weekend really and so a wonderfully enthralling post to contemplate some of the other pointless stories and things in the world that have passed my way in the last week.

1) Excessive food packaging. Everything seems to come in that really annoying plastic covering and its just so difficult to open. And small things always seem to come in absurdly large boxes. Very pointless.

Most of us don't notice how the ageing process gradually begins to gnaw away, bit by bit. You sometimes need to be able to step outside of the self to really have any idea of it happening at all. Im 28 now and just 10 years ago was still a teen going through the university process and yet just 10 years later I will be 38 and in the throes of middle age. The lines will undoubtably...

Hangover

Posted 03-26-2008 at 08:30 AM by miles
I'm hungover which is a state I find myself in once a week if I'm careful and twice a week if I'm feeling anarchic. It is no major concern because I have a free day and no classroom duties to fulfill. I should really be analysing a chapter from an exciting little book entitled "Vocabulary: Applied linguistic perspectives". I don't think I will manage to get around to that in my current condition.

Today is a quiet little day with me just pottering about the home. I have a...
