It is mid term exam time. Most of my students are craming hard and are quite content to give my classes a miss. And so I have a little bit of time on my hands this evening. Ive planned all my lessons for the week. I would plan further ahead but you can never be sure when the schedules may change. A week in advance is always sensible enough.

I went a bit mad during the middle of last week. I had no classes and thought I would try and enjoy my final days before having to start my essay....

Ive been listening to Radiohead's "In Rainbows" album today. It's better than "Hail to the Thief" which I found to be patchy in places. That had some great songs but too much meandering blandness. This has more songwriting craft and nous about it. A more thought through piece of work and each of the songs plays its part in making a very cohesive album. I've also been listening to the new REM album. Its not their best work by a long shot but there are some very good songs on it....

I went to the dentist for the first time in 5 years today. It was a tough one for me beause I really do have issues with hospitals and dentists. Hospitals are places where people often die and dentists are places where they drill inside your mouth! Of course, you can turn that around and say doctors can cure people and dentists can stop toothache. I suppose Im a glass is empty kind a guy! Ive been quiet over the past few days. Im somewhat anxious because I know that my time for reading is coming to an end and I need to start planning and writing my 4000 word essay. The essay writing process is a tough one for me because I set such high standards for myself. I can spend significant amounts of time rewriting and getting in an occasional strop when it isnt going quite how I would like it. Anyway, one more intense week at the books and then it will be time to put pen to paper.

I love a good curry. Ive made various attempts over the years to cook a good curry. Some have been really good, some have been disasters. I think I need to exercise more. In general I am pretty healthy. I dont have issues with weight, dont drive and go everywhere by foot. But Ive been sick all week and its never taken this long to get better. Im much improved but am coughing way too much and the tonsils still look fiery. Since getting 40kg's of food shipped over from the UK I have been gorging on snacks and chocolates something rotten. Ive just finished watching 28 Weeks Later. I enjoyed it though I thought 28 Days Later was better. The scene where the eyes were being squeezed into the head with the fingers was a bit much for me. But otherwise I as quite taken with limbs being shot off everywhere and blood being vomited up all over the place. It didnt appeal to my finer tastes in cinema but It did its job after a long evening at work.
