I miss decent sized dogs. Most of the dogs I see out here are tiny, sickly looking things. Women probably think these weird cross breeds of rat + dog look cute but I think they look ghastly. You wouldnt want to stroke one in case you snapped it in half. And they dye the dogs hair different colours and sometimes even dress them up. Poor bloody creatures. Today the skies have been dark. Lots of thunder, lightning and rain. It hasnt meant much to me though as Ive spent much of the day looking at the wall and pretending to be busy with my essay. Im up to 2250 words now. Its just so slow. I didnt use to be this way. Once upon a time I could churn out a 4000 word essay in 5 days. These days it takes the best part of a month. Admittedly, I do have to balance earning a living with my study so its not quite the same as before.

Ive been working hard these past few days. My essay is completely behind schedule but I have written about half of it. I think it is of a good standard but I really wrestle with my words. I erase sentences multiple times and rewrite and rewrite before I get any satisfaction. I will probably get an extension in order to finish it sufficiently.

I have my father in laws funeral to attend tomorrow. Its not going to be a barrel of laughs. I find it difficult being around my extended family all at once at the best of times. Moreso at a funeral. I always feel so awkward with not being able to maintain basic conversations with them. I always tend to feel like the Outsider. And of course, Im fussy with food and dont like to sleep in any bed that isnt my own (Im staying there over night).

It is mid term exam time. Most of my students are craming hard and are quite content to give my classes a miss. And so I have a little bit of time on my hands this evening. Ive planned all my lessons for the week. I would plan further ahead but you can never be sure when the schedules may change. A week in advance is always sensible enough.

Ive been listening to Radiohead's "In Rainbows" album today. It's better than "Hail to the Thief" which I found to be patchy in places. That had some great songs but too much meandering blandness. This has more songwriting craft and nous about it. A more thought through piece of work and each of the songs plays its part in making a very cohesive album. I've also been listening to the new REM album. Its not their best work by a long shot but there are some very good songs on it....

I went to the dentist for the first time in 5 years today. It was a tough one for me beause I really do have issues with hospitals and dentists. Hospitals are places where people often die and dentists are places where they drill inside your mouth!
