Forum Profiles... User CP

You can edit your forum profiles by clicking the "User CP" link at the top right hand side of the forum.

User CP
When you first click that link you will see any threads you have subscribed to and any reps given to you by users.

Control Panel in User CP

No the right hand side of your user CP you wil see a Control panel with various links on it.

Edit Signature Link
Click this to edit your forum sig you can upload images to it and edit the text.

Edit Email & Password Link
Use this to change your forum email address and edit your password... be carful when changing your email as the forum will send you out a email to that email address with a link in it to confirm it is true so changing that to a false email might get you locked out of your account.

Edit Profile Link

Custom User Title:
You can set your forum title in there that is the title that will appear under your name in your posts.... if you do not like the one you have now

Date of Birth:
You can set this with your age or just your birthday date... this will appear in your profile page if you set your age a zodiac sign will automatically update on your forum profile page.

Hompage and IM options:
your website address and any IM services contacts you have.

Biography and all the other links:
these are optional to fill out and will appear on your profile page and every word wil link to a list of members with the same choice IE: if your hobby is boxing it wil be a link saying boxing on your profile as a hobby to all the other members who picked boxing as their hobby.

the Flag option is a bit different this option will put the flag or flags you pick under your name in every post as well as put the text in your forum profile page with a link to every user who picked the same flag.

Edit Options
Invisible Mode:
Click this if you do not want to be seen on the users online list...never seen the point in this feature if i'm honest.

Set Profiles as Private:
This will set your forum profile as private and only people you have added to your buddy list will be able to view your forum profiles.

Only Allow friends to post comments:
This will only allow friends you have added to your buddy list and who have added you to theres wil be allowed to add comments to your posts ((i have given all users admin power over there comments and you can delete any comments made in your profiles))

Receive Emails:
This will allow users to email you direct via your profile but the forum sends the email so the person emailing you WILL NOT KNOW YOUR EMAIL ADDRESS.

Note if you reply to there email not via the forum but direct then they will see your email.

Default Thread Subscrition Mode:
when subscribed his is the option that will enable posts you are active in, started or posted in to appear on the first page of your User CP panel Automatically
This can be set to...
Do not subscribe = turned off
No email notification = turned on but no emails will be sent to you

I do not recommend picking any of the email options because this forum is busy and you could end up with alot of email update

Private Messaging:
All your PM options speaks for itself really except i would pick "Show New Private Message Notification Pop-up" as it is a good feature.

Interactive Profile Notifications:
You can use this to get emails if a member has added a comment to your profile page or requested you to join their friends list.

((i would not bother setting that as the forum notifies you when this happens but it is all down to how often your here ))

Visible Post Elements:
You can use this to see other posters, sigs, avatars or images in posts.... if you have a slow connection or are not intrested in seeing profile stuff in users posts then you can make them dissapear

Thread Display Mode:

1. Linear Mode (Oldest First) - In this mode, posts are displayed chronologically from oldest to newest. Posts are shown in a flat mode so that many posts can be viewed simultaneously.
2. Linear Mode (Newest First) - This is the same as the above mode, except that posts are ordered in an opposite way (newest first).
3. Threaded Mode - In this mode, a tree is shown along with every post. This tree allows you to see the relationship each post has to others, in terms of who responded to whom. Only one post is shown at a time.
4. Hybrid Mode - This mode is a mixture of the linear and threaded modes. The post tree is displayed like in the threaded mode, but multiple posts are displayed simultaneously like in the linear modes.

The rest is pretty easy to understand:
Number of post to show threads to show forum time zone etc

Message Editor Interface:
Use this to pick the kind of interface you want to use to post your threads... the default is the WYSIWYG option because it has more options like smilies and funky stuff but it is an option you can change.

Edit Avatar
An Avatar is the small photo that will apear on every post you make on the forum...
you can upload an avatar from your computer or link to a image on the net... to link you an mage on the net right click on the image you want choose the properties of the image and copy the url for that image into the option on box.

to upload an avatar image from your computer just click the browse button and find the image on your computer and upload it... make sure your computer image is no bigger than 120 by 120 pixels and 21.7 KB

Edit Profile Picture
this is the same system as above with the avatar but this image is for your profile page and goes just above your friends list on your profile page and is also used as your blog post photo. if uploading this image must be no more than 400 by 400 pixels or 97.7 KB

Adding friends to your Forum Profile page

OK you might notice on your forum profile that if says you have no friends... you can add friends there by adding another poster to youe bubby list... they will get a notifcation and if they add you to their buddy list will apear in your friends list in your forum profile

you can add a budy to your list in amny ways but the quickes is to go to thier profile and click add to buddy list link in there profiles
