It is mid term exam time. Most of my students are craming hard and are quite content to give my classes a miss. And so I have a little bit of time on my hands this evening. Ive planned all my lessons for the week. I would plan further ahead but you can never be sure when the schedules may change. A week in advance is always sensible enough.
I went a bit mad during the middle of last week. I had no classes and thought I would try and enjoy my final days before having to start my essay. Unfortunately, I decided that my only means of doing this was to get drunk. For two days in a row. I spent my time unconstructively and found myself spending an unusual amount of time playing cricket games in the arcade. I usually like to have a beer over the weekend but actually had to give it a complete miss for once because I was getting blotchy skin and dissaproving looks from the wife. I also needed a clear head to think about my essay question and to consider the neccessary reading I would need to do.
I have now calmed down on the excess and as a consequence my skin is better and the wife isnt giving me any hassle. Life is easier that way. Ive also got a much better idea on which direction my essay writing will go.
Ive mentioned before that Im a bit of a Hitchcock film buff. I watched Under Capricorn last night. Its a lesser known Hitch film and it performed quite poorly upon release. It stars Ingrid Bergman and Joseph Cotten and though a little slow in places was very watchable.

| | Good work on pulling in the reins on the drinking :-) It would have been easy to drink a little each night to relax from all the studying, but keeping the mind sharp sounds like a good idea.. Especially after working so hard, and then ruining it when it comes down the the business end.. Watching films and having a drink is probably my prefered way of relaxing on the weekend or after a few hard days at work.. |

| | Its all too easy to indulge when you have a bit of free time and I indulged too much. It seems to hit harder the older you get too. Im back on track now though, a sensible weekend and even back on the exercise today. You are right, keeping the mind sharp is vital. Im not the type thats able to spend the day writing and then relax with just a quiet couple. I find it best to just not drink at all on work days or when Im writing. I tend to have too much and just feel like crap the next day and get nothing done. Just not worth it in my case. |
