An Apology to My Heavybag

I don't beat you like I should. I've ignored you. I know, I know. We've been together for years now and over the past year and-a-half I can count on one hand the amount of times I've seen you.

It's all the baby's fault. Honest.

That 3 punch combo I almost perfected in my mind is all but forgotten. Remember me skipping rope? Yeah, you liked to watch me struggle to string more than a few jumps at a time with that low basement ceiling (and my uncoordinated feet).

I'm telling you, if it weren't for the kid we'd still be doing all that. That southpaw stance, the big hooks, the uppercuts from way out, the pitty-pat jabs. You saw me- I tried to bring her down so we can spend some time, but she just won't have any of it. She doesn't like it down there. She doesn't understand when I hit you it's out of love and not because I'm hurting you.

Maybe when she gets a little older. Maybe when she's not so afraid to be down there. Maybe, I don't know. I've gotten soft over the last year or so, but I'm hoping I can get back down there soon. I'm sorry. Can you just hang out 'til then?

North Korea is a regime arming with missiles and weapons of mass destruction, while starving its citizens..... States like these, and their terrorist allies, constitute an axis of evil, arming to threaten the peace of the world. By seeking weapons of mass destruction, these regimes pose a grave and growing danger. They could provide these arms to terrorists, giving them the means to match their hatred. They could attack our allies or attempt to blackmail the United States. In any of these cases, the price of indifference would be catastrophic.

Président Georges W Bush

We learned a lesson: The dangers of our time must be confronted actively and forcefully, before we see them again in our skies and in our cities. And we set a goal: we will not allow the triumph of hatred and violence in the affairs of men. (Applause.)

Washington -- The United States and Japan will maintain a united position toward North Korea and will cooperate on missile defense, as well as continuing to dissuade Pyongyang from *launching a long-range ballistic missile,* President Bush told reporters at the White House June 29.

"We both agreed that it's very important for us to remain united in sending a clear message to the North Korean leader that, first of all, *launching the missile is unacceptable.* There's been no briefings as to what's on top of the missile. They haven't told anybody where the missile's going," Bush said.

North Korea test-fired a seventh missile Wednesday -- amid international furor over the regime's launch of six missiles just hours earlier. The Japanese Defense Agency said one ballistic missile was fired from southeastern North Korea around 5:20 p.m. (4:20 a.m. ET), landing in the Sea of Japan about 10 minutes later.
The range of the missile has not been confirmed by CNN. However, Japanese news agencies said it was medium-range.
The seventh test came after North Korea launched one long-range and five shorter-range missiles shortly after 3:30 a.m. Wednesday (2:30 p.m. Tuesday ET). Those tests lasted about five hours.

On the threat from North Korea's nuclear program, the Prime Minister and I see the problem exactly the same way. *We will not tolerate* nuclear weapons in North Korea. We will not give into blackmail.

*WASHINGTON* (AP) -- President Bush on Monday denounced a reported potential North Korean nuclear test as provocative, *"unacceptable"* and a threat to global peace and security.

Associated Press
September 12th, 2006

UNITED NATIONS - The world's nations expressed opposition to North Korea on Monday for staging a nuclear test denounced even by key allies. President Bush called it “a threat to international peace and security,” and called for the U.N. Security Council weighed severe sanctions to punish the impoverished but reclusive communist nation.

Bush said the action deserves "an immediate response by the United Nations Security Council."

President Bush said Thursday he will lift key trade sanctions against North Korea and remove it from the U.S. terrorism blacklist, a remarkable turnaround in policy toward the communist regime he once branded as part of an "axis of evil."

Prison Break Season 4.. Return to glory???!

Well this is my question.... Will Prison Break return to being my favourite television show of all time?? I hope so... And I absolutely think it is possible.. Here is why...

Image: http://www.geocities.com/cillenmolin/pg01.jpg Image: http://www.geocities.com/cillenmolin/pb01.jpg

Well actually, first let me say that Season 3 sucked... Not sucked in a "oh no, the cat has pissed on my leg" sort of way, but sucked compared to the first 2 seasons... Season 3 had a lot to live up to, and did not deliver in my opinion... One thing that really pissed me off is that the writers strike cut the season from 22 episodes to 13.. That's 9 episodes of freakin awesomness that we never got to see. But even so, the season was not as good plot/energy/emotion/excitement/suspense wise as the first 2 seasons...

But I have *very *high hopes for Season 4 when it returns, to be as good as the first Season..

Image: http://www.geocities.com/cillenmolin/pg02.jpg Image: http://www.geocities.com/cillenmolin/pb02.jpg

With Season 1 and 2, Michael had a plan. He had plotted out every step of the escape. Things when wrong along the way. Hiccups sent things of course. Just when you thought his plan was coming into place, something would fuck up... As soon as you thought everything was fucked up, he'd come up with something else.... It was like a cat chasing a fake mouse on the end of the string.... It was close you could smell it, but if you reached for it it would go away... That's how you felt as a watcher for every every single episode... Apart from it just being fucken cool, the plot and pace was second to no other enertainment i've experienced in my 26 years on Earth....

Image: http://www.geocities.com/cillenmolin/pg03.jpg But the second that Season 2 ended, along with Michael getting thrown into Sona, it went down hill... Michael no longer had "a plan". He was no longer one step ahead.. Things would just fuck up randomly, but they weren't messing up a plan.. They were simple chaos... Any television show can put chaos in front of you..
And this is how it felt as a viewer.. Messy.. Meanings that really didn't mean anything..

* Season 1 and 2 had you by the balls !!
Season 3 just left them hanging there, occassionaly flicking them with an index finger..*

Image: http://www.geocities.com/cillenmolin/pg04.jpg Image: http://www.geocities.com/cillenmolin/pb03.jpg

But in the end, it was Prison Break, and I loved Season 3.. Only half as much as the first 2 seasons.. But still loved it... And am even more excited that there will be a Season 4... The show needs to wind up with a Season that really does the whole show justice!!!

Image: http://www.geocities.com/cillenmolin/pg05.jpg Image: http://www.geocities.com/cillenmolin/pb04.jpg

Now, here is why I have I have very high hopes for Season 4.

Michael will be back to his best.. He is out for revenge. Out on his own. Free to use his brilliant brain against those who took his lover. Free to sceme and plot and trap and kill and whatever..

The "PLAN" is back!!! The plan will be ready to unfold !!

Image: http://www.geocities.com/cillenmolin/pb05.jpg

*And once more I can happily place my balls, back in the tight grasp of the brilliant makers of Prison Break, WHERE THEY BELONG!!

Bring on Season 4 !!!!*

Iraq is preparing to allow four of the biggest western oil companies to renew exploitation of the country's vast reserves for the first time in almost four decades.
Iraq's oil ministry stepped up talks with BP, Exxon Mobil, Shell and Total after the US vice-president, Dick Cheney, visited Iraq in March, where he also pressed the government to revive efforts to pass the hydrocarbon law that nationalist MPs were blocking. The first contracts are expected to be signed this month.

Iraq's oil minister, Hussain al-Shahristani, told the Guardian this week that the deals did not amount to the privatisation of the country's oil. But the four companies are heirs to the consortium given the concession to control Iraq's oil by King Faisal, the foreign Sunni Arab whom the British imposed on Iraq's majority Shia population after occupying the country during the first world war. They lost their right to explore new fields in 1961 after the monarchy was overthrown, and nationalisation followed under the Ba'ath party.

We need an Arab facade ruled and administered under British guidance and controlled by a native Mohammedan and, as far as possible, by an Arab staff.... There should be no actual incorporation of the conquered territory in the dominions of the conqueror, but the absorption may be veiled by such constitutional fictions as a protectorate, a sphere of influence, a buffer state and so on.”

Intense Workout

OK haven't posted in here for a while but had one of the hardest personal sessions in a while today. Hardly being able to pick up the protein shake afterwards is always a good sign of an intense workout. I got the idea for making my shoulders that much more conditioned from seeing this video on the weekend... it did not dissapoint.

I only had minium of 5kg dumbells, I suggest not using this but about 2-3kg and working yourself up as I can hardly move right now.

I did not do the same format as that in the video but instead 4x tabata intervals, with 100 bodyweight squats and 30 calf raisers in between giving me a decent break between sets.

I then went to punishing my abs, russian twists, leg raisers, weighted crunches, twisters, bicycle etc. Destroying them in the process, after this I did not think I needed a run and exactly what I needed to kick start my enthusiasm. I will not however do the shoulder conditioning like that every day, maybe every second with days in between for plyo work.

Well theres an update on my training, let me know how all your guys is going.

Beef

I'm going to try and make this blog more resourceful. I tend to waffle on inanely regarding trivial issues such as getting old, doing my essays and Indiana Jones. Drab stuff really. Im going to try and give a broader picture of living in Korea and give some idea of the issues and stories that go on here.

The current hot topic out here is beef. Korean beef prices are the most expensive in the world. Seriously. For the highest quality cut of Korean beef you pay 3 pounds and 50 pence for 100 grammes. Very expensive and not something you buy without consulting your retirement plan. I never buy Korean beef. I refuse to on principle. You can buy Australian or New Zealand beef here which is significantly cheaper but still overpriced because of high tarrif duties. Apparently taxed at a rate of around 50%.

The main "beef" here surrounds the newly elected Presidents decision to allow US beef back into the Korean market. The Korean people are not very happy about this. The Korean media originally made claims about the dubious quality of the American meat and "informed" the Korean public of the imminent dangers of mad cow disease being unleashed. It was even claimed that the Korean people have a genetic disposition that makes them susceptible to mad cow disease. The issue took hold of the nation and led to huge cande lit demonstrations in Seoul.

Its a ridiculous situation that causes me to grimace and shake my head in disbelief. You would think that getting cheaper beef in would make sense to most people. But then again YOU dont live in the land that logic forgot! No, the Koreans dont want the beef. US beef is more rigorously tested than Korean beef. There are no masses of reeling Americans being wiped out by poisoned meat. And yet you have over one hundred thousand people taking to the streets to protest this issue! Many of the protestors are young students manipulated by an ignorant media and political lobbyists urging them on.

Apparently the issue has evolved. The main concern now is with importing cattle over 30 months of age. I can understand Korea wanting to protect the health of its own citizens but they should at least have the moral high code of looking at the meat they eat from their own cows first. Koreans have no idea regarding the Korean meat they eat either. It reeks of double standards and chest beating anti Americanism to me. The Koreans have a habit of becoming excessively nationalistic and turning an issue into a means of venting at America and this seems to have some of that in there too.

Ultimately, the people who suffer are the Korean consumers. They will happily farm and eat dog here which is unregulated because it is actually illegal and yet take issue with the beef! Ive no issues with eating dog but I do think all food produce should be monitored and be held to international standards. So for the time being there is no US beef. And its anybodies guess how long this charade will play out.

If more American's knew about how unfair trade with Korea is I am sure that they wouldnt be pleased. Many Koreans are vehemontly opposed to signing the FTA with the US. It doesnt make sense to me. Increased competition, wider variety and reduced prices is surely good for the typical family? Many would take issue with me though. Korea exports its products around the world freely. Nothing is imported here without being taxed excessively or else turned into an issue such as this.

My opening piece of art.

Reading the Pravda-like media every day and comparing their version of events to what's actually happening in the world can be a sickening experience. To try and express my feelings about it all I started putting small pieces of it, quotes etc. together a while ago. A way of communicating without using my own words. It's probably a bit of a stretch to describe this as art but I'm the world's worst artist so this is as close as I'm ever going to get. So to get things atarted here's one I prepared earlier. :)

Now it is the urgent requirement of our nation's security, and the calling of our time.

So it is the policy of the United States to seek and support the growth of democratic movements and institutions in every nation and culture, with the ultimate goal of ending tyranny in our world.

We will persistently clarify the choice before every ruler and every nation: The moral choice between oppression, which is always wrong, and freedom, which is eternally right. America will not pretend that jailed dissidents prefer their chains, or that women welcome humiliation and servitude, or that any human being aspires to live at the mercy of bullies.

All who live in tyranny and hopelessness can know: the United States will not ignore your oppression, or excuse your oppressors. When you stand for your liberty, we will stand with you.

Democratic reformers facing repression, prison, or exile can know: America sees you for who you are: the future leaders of your free country.

President George W Bush
Second inaugural speech
January 20th, 2005

We should all look to a future when every government respects the will of its citizens – because the ideal of democracy is universal. For 60 years, my country, the United States, pursued stability at the expense of democracy in this region here in the Middle East – and we achieved neither. Now, we are taking a different course. We are supporting the democratic aspirations of all people.

Condoleezza Rice
Remarks at the American University in Cairo
June 22, 2005

On behalf of the United States, I congratulate my friend, King Abdallah bin Abd al-Aziz Al Saud, on assuming the Saudi throne and the position of Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques. We wish Saudi Arabia peace and prosperity under his leadership.

George W. Bush
Message to King Abdallah

A general court in Riyadh sentenced 'Ali al-Dumaini, Dr. Matruk al-Falih and Dr. Abdullah al-Hamid on May 15, 2005, to prison terms of between six and nine years after they attempted to circulate a petition calling for a constitutional monarchy in Saudi Arabia.

Sticking to tradition, Abdullah immediately appointed his half brother, Defense Minister Prince Sultan, 77, as his crown prince and successor . . . Sultan is likely to appease the religious establishment, which gives the monarchy its legitimacy, rather than continue to reform its institutions.

"Saudi judges seem unable or unwilling to protect Saudi citizens from arbitrary detention when they try to exercise basic rights like free speech," said Sarah Leah Whitson, Middle East and North Africa director for Human Rights Watch. "Instead, they have backed the government’s relentless repression of all peaceful political criticism."

Oil prices climbed above $61 a barrel to a three-week high on Monday . . . analysts said markets were jittery over longer term Saudi policy, noting that the new king and Crown Prince were both octogenarians.
"It's this succession struggle and the possible related instability that's the actual concern," one trader said.

I have been living without a computer and it has been quite nice. In a weird way. Ive been watching BBC world news and the constant stories about food and oil price rises. Ive also been sitting back and listening to music. Or else just reading a book.

Ive erased all the self indulgent gay bollocks I wrote before. No need for that kind of thing! I will just say that I am getting old and leave it at that. No young man walks about in a straw hat doing Pete and Dud impressions.

I finally saw it today. It wasnt quite what I had hoped for. Way too much CGI and a script that was awkward. It falls way short of even the Temple of Doom. Im amazed they got it wrong.

Scenes that were wrong:

1) The fridge flying miles through the air after the nuclear explosion. Corny and weak. Indy isnt even bruised.

2) The weird monkey swinging shit.

3) Fucking groundhog mutants everywhere.

4) LeBouf or whatever his name is...doing ballet between two vehicles. It looked fake, was fake and I just cannot buy that drivel.

5) Marian driving straight off the cliff onto a swinging tree. Too much and too much akin to the Transformers generation.

6) Then 3 huge waterfall drops in a jeep/truck. People barely get through 1 Niagra and here we have 3 Niagra falls and in a Russian jeep?

7) No real connection between the characters. Mac has no depth at all. Just irritates me when he shouts "Jonesy"!!! A crap character. Marion?? Too contrived. The wedding scene at the end made me want to vomit.

:cool:The ants were this years nasties. CGI ones of course. No sense of menace. Completely fake and perfectly easy to shoot.

9) The rubber snake. WTF??

I could go on...It was watchable and I was seldom bored, but I did find myself shaking my head a lot. It just wasnt Indy as we know him, its been upgraded and cleaned up but lost all sense of depth. Unfortunate because it could have been a modern classic. I was let down by that.

The burden of my life, the essay, is done. Another difficult time because It has been a troublesome month. My father in law died, had a few problems at work, and ultimately found myself staring at a computer screen too long. Still all done now....Its not perfect and is over the word limit. So im a little apprehensive. But to heck with it, its done.
Time for bed. Completely spent.

Well, they did a great job of it didn't they?? They really screwed up a LOT of people's lives??? Yes they did!!! They have taken control! They have beaten us... We are nothing now!! They have made us who they want us to be... Taken advantage of us... Screwed us over... They did it, EASILY!!!

Who am I talking about??
THEM!! Who's them?? You know!!

THEM!!!

The ones that know human beings are entirely fucking lazy... and have decided to profit from it.!
We are built for survival.. If we can survive on a delivered pizza while sitting in front of our television for our entire life,,, then why would we be motivated to do anything else?? All our bodies i.e. "genes" want is for us to get through our life in one peice, and fuck someone so that we have children.....

Right now, i'm surviving... As long as I don't move out of my comfort zone, (in front of the television) I probably won't die.. And as long as my girlfriend stays around forever, I probably will get to pass on my genes.....

So why would I need to do anything else?? Where does the motivation come from really, to do anything else than kill time until you die??

I ask myself and don't have an answer... One thing I know is, it is glorious to sit in front of television for hours, and eat delivered Pizza... Pizza tastes freakin awesome,,, and television is entertaining... What more could a human being need? and why?

Well, I want more.. I have goals... I want to be a hero of the Earth.. I want to help others.. I want to be remembered... blah blah blah..

I want endless good television shows... and I want the new managers at the Pizza shop around the corner from me to keep cooking those sensational pizza's that I adore..

My day :

7:45 am - Wake up for work.
8:00 am - Leave for work.
9:00 am - Start work
5:30 pm - Finish work
6:00 pm - Get home from work

6:00 pm to 12:00 am - Eat & watch television, play computer, watch more television.
12:00 pm - Go to sleep..

**** And do the same thing tomorrow ****

I NEEEEEEEED, to look at 6pm to 12am, and figure out a better way to spend my that time.
I need to write out a schedule that I stick to that included 30 minutes of exercise. Every night.
30 minutes to an hour to read the books i've been meaning to read. Every night.
30 minutes to meditate or work on centering myself. Every night.
30 minutes to work on writting my book, or moving my small business plans forward..
Every fucking night....

But those fuckers I spoke about at the start??? They are good... They are realllllllllllllllly good!!! They let me sit in front of a screen all night. Be entertained. Feel good. Forget my dreams (and worries)... Lay back.. Eat... Drink... Be a lazy ass fucking shit.... And waste away my life.... And NOT be completely and utterly pissed off about it while it's happening....

Where does it end??? Where does the endless lazy ass distracted me go and hide under a rock... And the motivated kick ass grab the world by the fucking balls me come OUT of hiding, and start making the most of the very very very few hours I have on this planet to actually do something?????

Pizza and television..... The great miracle of human life. The human soul, as complex as it is...

The great GIFT of living in this wonderous world...
...has been reduced in my case...

To Pizza and Television....

They are too good.....And they have got me beat....

My essay deadline is this Friday and its looking like I will do it. It will probably come to about 5800 to 6000 words in total including headings, quotations, contents page and all that malarkey. Im currently at about 4300 words. Ive one more chapter to write up and the conclusion to do. My only concern is staying inside the main 4500 word limit. A few trimmings will hopefully see me scrape through on that score. Its been a tough slog. My writing is far more measured and mature than it sometimes was back in the day. It just takes so much longer though.

It was 29'c today. Summer is coming. Not looking forward to that in the slightest. Had the fan on all day whilst I typed. The Korean summer is pretty brutal. Intense, humid and pretty torrid. June should be okayish but after that its a rough ride.

Im well impressed with my dentistry job. I was on the phone to my mum and she was saying she had 3 fillings and needed 4 injections to stop the pain. A day later and one of the fillings fell out!! My gold filling/cap has worked a treat. No injections, no pain and a thoroughly competent job all round. I get my other one put in on Saturday. No fears at all now. They even put the gold filling in a little heart shaped box with my name on. Thats quality for you. I even haggled for a discount because I got two done. The Koreans are very good when it comes to dentistry and cosmetic surgery.

I will reward myself by seeing the new Indiana Jones film after the dentist. Ive delayed seeing it whilst I get my essay done and have been a little unnerved by some reviews and comments. Im going to go in with an open mind and just try to enjoy it but I am a little apprehensive. You cannot get Indy wrong, surely?? We shall see.
