Today at the Gateway Hotel in Nottingham, England, promoter Frank Maloney hosted a press conference ahead of Friday's fight night at the Harvey Hadden Leisure Centre, in which Leicester binman Rendall Munroe will defend his European super bantamweight title for the fifth time.

Munroe's opponent, former European bantamweight champion and WBC title challenger Simone ‘Boom Boom’ Maludrottu of Italy arrived in England yesterday and sat at today's press conference alongside his trainer.

Unable to speak English, Maludrottu answered questions via an interpreter, who sat between Maludrottu and his trainer.

A confident Munroe sat alongside his team of Jason and Mike Shinfield.
Newly-formed Five Towns ABC Coach Clinton Campbell is hoping members of his stable can secure Midlands Championships slots in thoroughout the new season.

“It's going to be tough in our first season, but we are hoping to see champions in this gym over the coming years,” Campbell said.

Campbell and co-trainer Paul Dodd are former coaches at Hulton Abbey ABC, and Clinton insists that the time was right to setup their own stable.

“People have certain ways of doing things, and myself and Paul felt that we could teach the young lads here things maybe they weren't learning at the Abbey.”

Despite their departures both have said that relations between the clubs are superb, and also with all the amateur clubs in the Staffordshire area.

“There was no problem with our decision to leave Hulton Abbey, and we still talk regularly with the trainers there as well as all the coaches for other clubs.” Campbell commented.

The gym situated in Bottleslow Street, Hanley has been open for training purposes since January, but Campbell... Full Boxing Article here... (http://www.saddoboxing.com/11040-five-towns.html)

Ricky Hatton's younger brother, Matthew Hatton, takes on former IBF light welter titleholder Lovemore N’dou tonight at the Fenton Manor Sports Complex in Stoke, England for the IBO welterweight title.

The last us Brits would have seen of both of these fighters would have been on the undercard of the Ricky Hatton vs Juan Lazcano fight in May of last year.

N’dou fought IBF light welter champ at the time Paul Malignaggi in a rematch, losing via a split decision while Hatton faced Craig Watson for the Commonwealth welter title, losing via a unanimous decision.

Since that loss, Hatton has had four fights, one of them being Ted Bami, another, South African hardman and older brother Ricky's former victim Ben Tackie.

Hatton stopped Bami in six rounds when they fought and got the decision over Tackie. N’dou has fought twice since the secon... Full Boxing Article here... (http://www.saddoboxing.com/11025-lovemore-ndou-vs-matthew-hatton-3.html)

Lets hope Clev wins the European Title and fights Bellew could be a cracking fight, doubt it will happen both Warren fighters but I think Frank wouldnt risk two of his better young fighters at this stage.

Really nice bloke Tony was talking to him at the Khan/Kotelnik weigh in and his last performance quite impressive, if you missed it he stopped the guy in the first who was much more seasoned than Tony and can bang and in his previous fight only lost narrowly to Robert Stieglitz who has been in with the likes of Andrade and Berrio and not disgraced himself, and Tony is only 11 fights in.

Does anyone else think this could be a cracker?
