Re: Total solar eclipse 2024
I honestly had no idea this was going on (the outsized hype... not the eclipse).
Somehow doesn't surprise me, though. States of emergency... school closings... $1k/night motels...
IMO, it fits together with today's narrative where people go out of their way to make the commonplace into an issue/ problem.

That last bit especially. Granted it's not common...but it's far from "once in a lifetime" as has been stated. Been in 3-7 myself depending on what qualifies as full solar eclipse. Guess that just tells us we're old as dirt too ;D.
It's crazy how we get caught up today. One of our local news stations even delayed programming to dedicate hours on the rotation, viewing and the coverage of the coverage etc. Oh and the t shirt and glasses sales are UP :greedy:. It is interesting though, the actual occurrence of things we cannot fathom in the stars. I get that too.
Re: Total solar eclipse 2024
Here in the Dallas area it is being posted at intersections for crying out loud on digital displays. As a kid I saw a few of these things and although there was a bit of excitement in the air it was nothing like this melodramatic almost panic kind of thing. School closures .... incredible to me.
The Avis and the Enterprise Rent-A-Cars are all sold out for some strange reason people have rented cars and are driving to arkansas? Is this to witness the event and some kind of wide open area? I don't get it. Everybody's saying that people went to Arkansas with rental cars. This is getting creepier by the minute
Re: Total solar eclipse 2024

Attachment 6253 Friend managed to get this. Apparently what happens with 90 percent cloud coverage.
Re: Total solar eclipse 2024
All our newspapers told me that you could look at and observe the eclipse through a colander. I tried it, but it only strained my eyes ☹️
