Re: Individual opinions on Carl Froch
I like him, hes far from a boring boxer, he can really hit hard and can take a few too, hes a better boxer than his last performance against Pascal but shows a bit of indiscapline and likes to go into a bit of a war. But then theres a fair few legends of the sport that did that.
I think Taylor is his toughest fight yet, Taylor gets a bad press with his engine being poor and i even hear about his bad chin which a completely disagree with. And i dont care if hes coming from a lesser weight he did Hopkins which saya a hell of alot about him.
This fight will help me decide whether or not hes really worthy of the WBC belt and all the hype he seems to be getting. I think he will prove to be worthy but there is something that niggles me, at times he can look very average and those average moments could be the ones that catch him out when hes facing the big big names in the division.

I don't think Taylor KO's him, because I don't think he has the power, but TBH if he got into a sluggin match with Kessler or Andrade, I couldn't see him coming out on top. Plus, he's got fuck all charisma, I don't get how people get so wound up by the little things Amir Khan says, but this guy proclaiming himself as the best SMW in the world off beating Jean Pascal & saying he beats Calzaghe in his prime doesn't make people wanna see him get laid out
Well at least Froch has stepped it up and won a fight convincingly. I'm not a fan of Froch by any means, but to compare him to Khan makes me laugh a little. Both Froch and Khan would do a lot better by closing their pig ignorant traps somewhat.

*snort* ;D dunno why fighters seem to think they have to tell us how good they are all the time, shut up and show us. Who are they trying to preach to?
Re: Individual opinions on Carl Froch
Yes, Miles, comparing Froch with Khan is silly, Froch is 10 years older with the same amount of fights.
Big nose has a decent dig, solid chin and by fighting Taylor, the challenger, in his own backyard has shown some serious bollocks.
Or serious stupidness.. depending on how you look at it. ;)

Disagree with you, I don't think Froch's record is much better than Khan's. A load of shot, old fighters or guys who really weren't on the level. I did not think Froch was particularly 'convincing' against Pascal, for me it was a close victory with a lot mistakes against a guy who's not even top 10 in the division. I think Froch gets a much easier ride than Khan who doesn't come out with half the same crap. Khan gets asked questions, then the stupid Brit media blow things out of proportion, probably at the behest of Frank Wanker. Froch doesn't ever get misquoted, he says these things in live boxing shows, he seems to actually be Mick Hennessy's soulmate.

In Khan's case he is most likely preaching to the Amir Khan forum. Which I have to say is the worst forum I have encountered in my time upon planet earth. In defence of Froch, he probably has a decent shot at beating Taylor, which will take him somewhere at least.
Talk is louder than actions, so we shall see. ;D

Im not sold on Khan nor Froch really, but I do think Froch has stepped it up better than Khan. Froch is at the world level, Khan really isn't, for he has proven NOTHING. Khan isnt even the best at domestic level for crying out loud. :-\
If you want to believe he is then fair enough. I won't argue with you. but until he fights his way through, I will most likely doubt him.
Re: Individual opinions on Carl Froch
I havent seen alot of Froch yet, here in the states is is pretty much a nobody. He can make a breakthrough if he beats Taylor. The fights I have seen of Froch he was getting hit alot.Taylor is a good puncher so if he passes that test I will take notice.
Side note - From the little I have seen of Froch (I have seen Taylor fight a ton) I see Froch getting sparked.
Re: Individual opinions on Carl Froch
Such a tough one to call and Froch usually makes an interesting fight...possibly because he gets hit so much and loves to wind up his uppercuts. If Taylor shows to Froch what he showed to Pavlik then maybe Carl can take him out, but as far as boxing ability goes, Taylor is quite far ahead really.
If it goes the distance then it's Taylor's no prob I reckon, but I have a sneaky feeling that Froch is gonna win by KO in the 7th/8th round :P
Re: Individual opinions on Carl Froch
You've got to admire Froch for going to America to fight his first defence against a guy who's fought in much higher class than him. Until he beat Pascal his best win was against a 37 year old ex-porn star and he was best known for his mouth and avoiding getting in the ring with anybody good till his thirties. I'd never seen Pascal before the Froch fight and thought he'd be a much better fighter if he'd had a jab. Taylor has a jab but Froch is the far hungrier fighter, but I still take Taylor by close decision. I think Kessler would hand his arse to him if they ever fought.

I see him as the kind of man that will absolutely go to war before he gets beaten, big, powerful and aggressive with a medium sized dollop of speed to go with it. For me, a true test at 168 isn't Taylor, its Kessler now Calzaghe has gone. I also think that Calzaghe would have ran rings around him to a UD.
Please no need for the formaility kind sir ! Please , call me Big dick .
Yeah sorry when i said the ''the lot'' I meant in terms of appeal !
Hmmm by some of the comments on this here forum it seems Carl Froch is something of a marmite fighter!
I'd say he's a level fighter lets his heart rule his head but has so much confidence you cant help like the fella .
I aggree Kessler would tell us more about the Cobra but I think Carl is at that stage where the jury is still out ,the same stage Kessler was at before Mundine and Pavlik before Mirinda even though he has served a lengthy immpressive apprenticeship apart from Pascal who is also not proven world class he has it too do .
I think he will wipe the floor with Taylor and then set the house of the Supermiddles on Fire .
I'm backing my man all the way 100%

Would you back him to win against Kessler ?
Re: Individual opinions on Carl Froch
As far as his personality goes, Froch is arrogant and untested, which is a vexing combination. By comparing himself to Calzaghe, I had a difficult time taking him seriously until he decided to travel the US to fight Jermain Taylor. I can't help but give him credit for leaving the safe confines of England to fight a tough opponent. From what I've seen, his ability as a boxer is lacking in some areas but strong in others. In addition to decent punching power, he possesses admirable determination and a strong chin. On the other hand, he isn't fast enough to leave his left hand as low as he does and his head movement is relatively non-existent. In sum, Froch is very watchable because he'll leave it all in the ring and doesn't cower from punches.
In regards to the Taylor fight, given the above discussion, I lean toward Taylor taking a unanimous but hard-fought close decision with Froch giving a good showing of himself and considerably raising his profile. Possibly earning himself a rematch or a lucrative fight against another relatively big name like Miranda or Bika. Either poses stylistic challenges for Froch.
On another note, I understand Kessler has proven himself to be a talented boxer, but isn't it fair to say that due to his promotional problems and recent level of opposition that he is irrelevant for the next period of time and that Bute (or Bhop if he remains) is the man at the top of the heap in the 168 division?
