GGG is an established star and a pretty big draw in his own right, but Jacobs is largely unknown. Why? It isn't cause he's black, or any other nonsense like that. It's because he's not a loudmouth, obnoxious character like Mayweather. It's because he doesn't run his mouth and talks more than he does, like a Haye. Both of these are hugely popular.
GGG-Jacobs is a FAR more compelling and relevant fight than Canelo-Chavez Jr could ever be. But why the disparity in attention? Because Mexican stars have humongous followings that are immune to any shortcomings their heroes may have... and couldn't give less of a shit about a fight's relevance.
The thing is GGG has sold out arenas before against arguably lesser known opponents, with similar undercard matches. I don't think anyone thought GGG-Jacobs could match Canelo-Chavez in terms of sales. Maybe ticket prices have something to do with it?

GGG will be like Hagler and appreciated after he has retired. They will say what a beast he was who destroyed all within his path.

GGG has no trouble making the middleweight limit.

Which is why it always surprises me when people call for him to move up a weight for other fights, he's not boiling himself down to squeeze into the middleweights, it is his natural weight and he is comfortable there.

The only problem is that after this fight he's wiped out the division. All BJS and Eubank do is waste his time, they don't really want him, and at his age time is a luxury he can't afford. So he needs to step up after this and earn some big bucks.
And because he'll be giving away size and reach at SMW , people will buy into it because they'll feel it'll even things out.
The only stumbling block will be if the top SMW's avoid him like BJS and Eubank do.

Re: Gennady Golovkin v Daniel Jacobs - 18/3/17 MSG
my tactics for Jacobs would be to get as fit as is humanly possible and try and jump on Golovkin from the off, beat him to every punch and throw lots of punches
I don't think its very common you would advise a fighter to go after another early, but in this case I think I would

Go for broke as he did with Quillin? Nice tactic as GGG tends to start slow.

I think you are right in that it is no good waiting for the hammer to fall. GGG seems to slip into gear after the first round or two and by then he has learned how to close all the fire exits before you can start implementing any kind of evasive action.
Re: Gennady Golovkin v Daniel Jacobs - 18/3/17 MSG
I also think that is Jacobs' only option. In saying that; fire will be coming back at him increasing his chances of getting caught.
Re: Gennady Golovkin v Daniel Jacobs - 18/3/17 MSG
Well the last fight out was not very impressive for me Brooke was giving GGG a lot more problems then i would of thought. Jacobs got a lot of speed to him and is good sized dude a long with good wins should be a good fight.

Was that more to the fact that GGG knew Brook was coming up in weight and may not have been able to hurt him like a natural middleweight would have? He did the same with Monroe. When Golovkin faces an opponent who can potentially hurt him (Lemieux, Stevens etc) his defense although spotty is usually on point.
Re: Gennady Golovkin v Daniel Jacobs - 18/3/17 MSG
I think we'll see the same GGG that fought Lemieux - pumping out the ramrod jab for 3-4 rounds totally taking the fight away from Jacobs then landing the bombs when the openings appear.
I also think this fight goes Hagler v Hearns at some point with some brutal toe to toe exchanges
People forget how good a Jab GGG has.
I will say though i think Jacobs is well in this fight after what i saw Brook do to GGG in patches.
This is a Full Blown genuine Middleweight with way more power than Brook and anyone who can come through what Jacobs has personally has the mental will to succeed in anything in life.
Decent boxer too Jacobs and he has the faster hands.
Royally Proper fight this one and fights like this don't come around too often - i think this is gonna be a special fight
