Alot of people are reliving Delahoya's glory days which he hasnt had a noticeable or significant win since he fought Fernando Vargas 2002-09-14 which is almost 5 years ago and Hasn't had a top level fight since Shane Mosely back in 2003 which is about 4 years ago... Since then he was gifted the Strum fight, stopped by Hopkins and KO'd a shot Mayorga who stands in front of you leads with his chin and has 0 defense...
Again father time ain't skipping over Delahoya, I don't care how charismatic he is ;D but seriously guys Oscar hasn't been Stellar since Vargas, lets not get all nostalgic and think that the former Delahoya is fighting the current Mayweather... Sadly its not the case.. Floyd is firing on all cylinders is just reaching his prime, is the best pure boxer and skilled technician offensively and is top 4 Defensively along with Hopkins,Wright and Toney...
The punchstats in Mayweather fights are always overwhelming in his favor for the most part, but his opponents percentages are anemic... This fight wont be any different IMO ;)
Re: Don't Forget This Isin't The Same Oscar Folks....
but if DLH catches him with a good combo
thats the exciting part
what could happen
can floyd take a full oscar whack ???
Re: Don't Forget This Isin't The Same Oscar Folks....
De La Hoya won the second fight against Mosley regardless of the cards ;)
he won that fight as i remember it well because i had a big bet on Mosley winning via UD and almost felt guilty collecting my winnings ;)
Re: Don't Forget This Isin't The Same Oscar Folks....
Floyd fighting another man who is past his prime?
No!?
Not Floyd!
Tell me this is not so!
For reals though, what else is new?
Tell that chump Floyd to get his punk azz back down to the Welter Weight Division where the Prime Rib is.
Floyd Duck Feather Jr.
Quack! Quack!
Re: Don't Forget This Isin't The Same Oscar Folks....
I see your points JT and you have SOME valid ones.... The SSM II fight is a gimmie we all know what went down....
Now I'll simply ask the same question about PBF whats his last significant fight that he won that ment something?
I say it's when he dismanteld Gatti 2 years ago.....
Cause you can't tell me the Baldo, Zab, or Sharmba fights were something significant.....
Wadda 'ya think?
Re: Don't Forget This Isin't The Same Oscar Folks....
^His upset loss to Baldomir aside, I think beating Zab Judah is a pretty significant accomplishment.

I think Floyd has been fighting Mick and Oscar Hasnt been.... He isint the same Delahoya that was fighting Vargas, Mosely etc... I guess we dont what kind of Oscar is showing up May 5th, I could be wrong he could put on a better performance than any of the previous fights..
I just think that people get caught up in the past and remember The old Oscar and think thats who will be in the ring with Floyd... I cant say I blame them since Oscar hasnt shown us anything recently good or bad  :-\  just Mediocre I guess
Look I like Oscar and think he is a Modern day gladiator with an impeccable resume and has titanium balls and one of this generations  great and finest warriors up there with Holyfield, Morales, Barrera etc
But its not the same Oscar.....  ;)

I'm trying to figure out who or what has lead you to write this up about people thinking ODLH is the same as before?
I think it's pretty obvious that it's not.....
ODLH has declined, while PBF has rised.
I don't think anyone denies that, but this is boxing and anything can happen....
Shit!! I've seen a man with a GIANT ASS FAN! fly in and land on the ropes of the ring while 2 Heavys were fighting I don't in a million years would anyone have thought of something like that happening....
But anyway! to me it's more of my support and belive in ODLH.
It's like when Jorge Paez was still fighting as he got older I knew for a fact the fighters he was facing were younger and faster but even then I always belived he could beat them....
Same way I believe ODLH can beat PBF.

Good points here, I had him in front in the Hopkins fight at the time of the stoppage and i thought he beat Mosley the second time. The Sturm fight was a bad one, 160lb wasn't his weight that's for sure. DLH is still the most dangerous opponent Mayweather has faced and will have to be at his very best to beat him.
Re: Don't Forget This Isin't The Same Oscar Folks....
Oscar WAS stellar against Mayorga, I don't care what anyone says, he was all but one punch landed by Mayorga perfect, he outweighs, out muscles and is more experience than Floyd and that always gives you a great shot in 12 rounds of fighting.
.
Re: Don't Forget This Isin't The Same Oscar Folks....
Oscar has forgotten more boxing than any of Floyd's opponents ever learned!!!
Yes Oscar is old and past his prime but he's the most dangerous fight Mayweather will have ever had....and what does that tell you about Floyd???
This is similar to when Oscar was a young up and coming star and brutalized Julio Cesar Chavez...but after that ODH went after the best and only THE BEST!!!!
Floyd has never unified ANY division and what's more is that he has never even tried to!!!! Floyd is a pussy and I hope history remembers him as such!

As long as were around (or I'm around) I will make sure that everyone around me knows just that about PBF.... :)

hahaha COOL CLICK mr. SADDO, exactly DITTO for me too! it was worse cause I watched it in Scoreboards in POMONA which is like the biggest sports bar in Pomona aka Sugar Shane Mosely's hometown. his whole entire family(cousins, grandmas, aunties, uncles, nieces, nephews, etc etc was all sitting around me)
Re: Don't Forget This Isin't The Same Oscar Folks....
Am i only one who thought Oscar looked razor sharp against Mayorga ?? they are good points Jt Rock but also you got to take into account that Shane Mosley fight Oscar was robbed and Sturm and Hopkins fight was at weight which he is not comfortable at and he had bit of fat on his stomach and in his last fight he looked awesome imo his combos were quick i think he performed great against Mayorga and thing that makes me laugh is if Mayweather would of fought Margarito and beat him then people would of said he was ducking Oscar you just can't win with some people this is risk for Floyd fighting at weight he has never fought at before and if anyone can't see that then i can't understand your way of thinking.
