Last nights contender....**spoilers**
Any thoughts on last nights show ?? I don't want to ruin it for anyone that hasn't seen it but if max alexander wore his trunks any higher they could have passed for a turtleneck.
Re: Last nights contender....
I haven't read anything you posted just incase of spoilers but i will discuss this with you later just waiting for it to get uploaded.
Re: Last nights contender....
Wow, all the editing in the world couldn't make that fight pretty!
If he hadn't kinda asked for it with his games, I would have felt sorry for Max having to face the "King of Awkward". But, if Max knew how to punch he could have kept him off and maybe KO'd him. It looks like poor technique to me more than just lack of power; which would make some sense if he's really self trained.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if Soliman is the first round winner that has to go home.
Re: Last nights contender....
I would hate for anyone to have to face SS in a 5 rounder. There is no time whatsover to figure out his awkward style and establish any type of ryhthm. He made Winky look bad so I don't see any of these guys being able to do any different in 5 rounds. Max is pretty good for only having 14 fights, and boxing for only 5 years, but nothing he did really impressed me. I'll have to watch the whole fight on Thursday to get a better read on him. He's tall and has decent defense, but he seems to non chalant in there.
Re: Last nights contender....
You gotta try and outwork him, Alexander was too complacent, he was waiting to counter and was getting smothered. He did ok with the uppercut...the editting made it look like Alexander won to me...
Re: Last nights contender....**spoilers**
Alexander's trunks were ridiculous, why is that allowed, shouldn't ODLH be the only one to get away with it?
Anyway, I thought Alexander seemed a bit mentally weak to be honest, he just wasn't willing to really go for the win. Look at the last round, he was talking about being exhausted although he didn't look extraordinarily tired, but he just didn't go for it. Maybe I'm wrong about him and he really was just too tired to do anything, if so that's not really a good excuse when you're only going five rounds. When he threw punches he did fine, Soliman's the sloppiest fighter I've ever seen, seems like a great guy but still he's so sloppy.
Re: Last nights contender....**spoilers**
Sam is just an awkward guy...Very funny style but effective for the most part...He has never been blown out by a nobody...He went 5 years without a loss...only KO'd once in 9 losses and 43 fights..he has almost no power and I think that is his only real downfall if he had some punching power he would have been world champion by now....
Re: Last nights contender....**spoilers**
It seems like it might be a catch 22 for Soliman. He might actually have some power if he threw his punches in a more conventional manner, but then he wouldn't be so hard to figure out.

I like Sam a lot his style and conditioning are what make him competitive, but he has been blown out, his last fight against Mundine was very one sided.
Re: Last nights contender....**spoilers**
Just watched it Max didn't want it Soliman did end of i didn't really enjoy the fight but im glad Max is out of it.
Re: Last nights contender....**spoilers**
Paul smith said it all "Max dont wan it" you could see it he was always looking to the crowd spat his shield and complained about being tired, I think Sam picked well tho, max doesnt have the expierience or pedigree of anyone else on the blue team and just couldnt deal with his style, boy i bet max sakio would be the scrappy fight, i know they already fought but damn that musta been messy, id say jaidon k.os sam in 4 or 5 to open for his power shots, just my opinion.
Re: Last nights contender....**spoilers**
Bika could beat him in five rounds imo cause hes also akward and also a good puncher but I dont know about anyone else.

Mundine and these guys are two different leagues though...With exception of Bika and Smith...just IMO

Yeah if Mundine was on the show he'd whip all of them.
Is he still retired or has his eye infection cleared up now? Great loss to the division, I'd have picked Mundine to school Jermain Taylor if he'd ever have stepped up.

As far as I know the eye damage Mundine got was permanent............I'd be great to hear otherwise, he's re-earned a right to fight the winner of Calzaghe-Kessler IMO.

I know that statement sounds extreme but i think if Mundine could make 160 he'd be champ. The top dogs at 168 seem a little big for him, even if he is more skilled.

Why Bozo?
Re: Last nights contender....**spoilers**
I like Sam Soliman the best as far as personality, that was pretty cool how he treated Miguel, helping him and all. I dont really care for that British guy, hes not too friendly.McCrary had a good joke calling Alexander Don King without the fro. O0
Re: Last nights contender....**spoilers**
I think Sam Soliman is a throw back to the old days of boxing, if only there were moer fighters like him. Always wel prepared, has limited ability but does the best he can because he has developed an awkward style that wins him fights. He gave one of the best fighters of his era (winky Wright) a hard night. He fights anyone almost anywhere. The guy has fought between 154 and 175. He is always humble.
If only a few of the more naturally 'gifted' fighters out there had the same attitude as Sam.
