Andre Ward is officially off his rocker

Re: Andre Ward is officially off his rocker
Lol, Froch tell him to fuck off.
Froch doesn't need the Ward fight, but Ward needs Froch.
Who sells those tickets? Froch.
Who has most belts? Froch.
Seriously who else does ward fight? Whereas Froch has A LOT of options.
Plus this way it'll always go down that Ward was a home fighter who ducked Froch.

Why? He was stripped of his belt, but he won't travel to win 2?
Then makes a ridiculous statement that he wants £50 million(which he knows he won't get)
How much did his highest paid fight make him? Now he's asking for Mayweather type money? Which is ridiculous because he's boring as shit.
How's is that not ducking someone? Most fighters would bite your hand off to win a world title and go anywhere.
So I'm sorry but in my definition of 'ducking', someone not going to fight for 2 belts because they don't wanna fight abroad, is about as clear as it gets
-
Re: Andre Ward is officially off his rocker
He has already whipped Froch's ass, that's all. "Ducking" really doesn't apply. I agree that Ward should rematch him the UK, absolutely. It's a tough spot to be in I guess though, being the top guy in the division but not having a lot of draw.

I understand what you're saying but your not understanding my point.
He wouldn't be ducking because he is scared.
I mean he would be ducking because he doesn't want a disadvantage.
Remember 2 judges scored it 113-115, so it wasn't as bad as you make it sound in the first fight.
How easy would that have been to make Froch' fight if it was in the uk?
That's why he's ducking.
-
Re: Andre Ward is officially off his rocker
Ok, but that also adds to my point. Ward actually won the fight by a good deal more than that. Froch may well have gotten the decision if that fight had been in the UK, which is exactly why Ward may be wary of going.
-
Re: Andre Ward is officially off his rocker
Yes, ducking.
Froch went to the USA so who's manner?
This is why I hate Ward, he's not a champion, he's good at getting the win, but shit to watch.
He is a repellant to PPV. How anyone can call themselves a boxer or the number 2 p4p and won't travel for 2 belts I will never know.
-
The ward fight was a 115-113 decision just as much as the kessler fight was a 118-110 decision, which is to say not at all unless you live in bizarro world and you wrote down some random scores and said fuck scorring a fight. Ward asking for fifty million tho is complete insanity, dude must have started doing some hardcore drugs, maybe just to get people talking, because there is no way he can be serious! I mean hell wlad is a BIG draw in germany and he only make like ten or fifteen mil a fight.

Haye said on ESPN that Wlad got 7 million for fighting him.

Oh yeah I was just throwing out a ballpark figure to make the point that ward has lost his dam mind lol

Re: Andre Ward is officially off his rocker
Ward will fight Froch because that is the biggest fight out there for him. Carl can fight all the crap out there but he will want to avenge his defeat sooner or later. I think Carl will duck out against Ward because he knows he will lose. Simple.

What does an average British football stadium hold attendance wise?

Wembley holds about 90,000.
Old Trafford about 75 000
Most Premiership grounds hold about 30-40 000
the next league down about 25, 000 capacity per stadium
the next league up to about 20 000
and the bottom league between 5000 and 20 000 depending on the club and it's history/catchment area
-
Froch vs Kessler would have sold out Wembley easily.

What planet are you currently orbiting?
Ward has already comprehensively beaten Froch and Kessler. He hasn't ducked anyone and stands head and shoulders above any other super middle.

Re: Andre Ward is officially off his rocker
Ward may be alot of things..arrogant and borish come to mind but to suggest he is weary and or ducking Froch is straight paint huffing talk. Chasing trinkets from a man you already beat soundly is not an incentive for making a fight..wanting to beat and revenge a man who did the same to you is.

Froch studies ward to prepare for fights, this came out of froch's mouth. Froch is too stiff to beat ward.....ever! Ward dominated him, Im sure he can dominate him again and again and again
-
Re: Andre Ward is officially off his rocker
You're misquoting him. It says in the article that they project the fight will generate 50 pounds in revenue. I don't see where Ward said he wanted to get paid 50 pounds.
And Ward will go down as DUCKING a guy who he whipped a year and a half ago?
Crazy british fans like you are the reason why I usually root against the British fighters.
If Froch wants to go down as UK's greatest, if he SERIOUSLY wants to compete with a guy like Calzaghe in terms of legacy, he needs to avenge his loss to Ward.
-
Re: Andre Ward is officially off his rocker
Ward never said anything about £50 million but mentioning Wembley Stadium is laughable. He might as well as said - fuck all you Britishers I ain't ever coming back
-

Re: Andre Ward is officially off his rocker
That is an excellent article I think the fight will not immediately happen but will further down the line in the USA.

I couldn't agree more, the strange thing is that Ward would whoop his Ass again though!

I heard this as well. Notice that he didnt look at Cazlaghes fight, or say he did. He doesnt want to give Calzaghe a mention or credit because it would remind people that Calzaghe went one better. Would have been more beneficial because Calzaghe beat the best of Kessler and Calzaghe doesnt used holding as a tactic.

But then you are no different Ross, you can't bring yourself to give Froch anything but the slightest amount of credit. Froch can hardly be accused of emulating Ward's holding tactics but Froch is never going to be Calzaghe and there is no point in trying to emulate someone so different.

Exactly. The Sun is owned by the same people who own Sky so it's in their interest to talk up any potential PPV.

Re: Andre Ward is officially off his rocker
I actually found ward pretty good to watch v froch, he was great in that fight and won it very easily, I dont understand all this he's not a real champion. he's boring and so on.. I thought he was great v froch and pretty entertaining, especially the way he just beat froch in every style possible that night, hats off to old ward he's a classy a boxer and I find him good to watch.. Sounds like froch is just clutching at straws with all this he's boring comments :S load of tosh if you ask me ! Ward is a very good boxer and I have never found him boring at all, certainly the best at 168, although now he is lacking the belts and he has been inactive so he will probably have to go to england to become the undisputed 168 king again !

Frank Bruno-Oliver McCall was at the old Wembley and that held 80,000. No boxing fight has been held at the new Wembley which holds 90,000.
Along similar lines, Calzaghe-Kessler was at the Millenium Stadium in Cardiff that holds 70,000. They said it sold out. Also, just to prove people will buy any old shit, Joe got around 35,000 in the same stadium for the Manfredo fight.

I know what you mean!
People knew they had a special fighter and just wanted to be present at one of his fights live. Its like Tyson was. He could still draw a crowd now for exhibition bouts. Its all about the star name.
Froch has almost got there if not there now and he should now try and get Steiglitz and or Bika who should both be the other 2 title holders and become the unified world champ. Both are beatable but I see Kessler going for Steiglitz. Froch against Bika would sell in the UK, it would be another unification amd a recognised name because of the Calzaghe connection.

Not yet it wouldn't. Bika hasn't won the belt yet!

Ask the guy who made the article why he came up with the number and never included it is his story. I could care less if person A calls the paper a rag.
Countless boxingscene stories are posted almost daily here and on just about on every boxing site on the web and about half the time there articles are a load of shit. I post one article that does not mention the figure in the title in the article and its some kind of indictable offense.
"everyone hates on Ward" Grow up ffs.
Each time a person disagrees with the line taken on the latest primadonna they are called "haters" That term as far as boxing is concerned is as meaningless as p4p.
You Ward idol worshipers are incapable of objective dialogue. If that figure was actually mentioned in the article you would still try to justify it. Its like the logic you attempt to use when the question is asked as to why he wont leave home. It would not make any difference because of how easily he won is a premise often used. That answer begs the question. If it was going to be so easy regardless of geography then why did he not travel and why wont he now? It begs another one also. If he is so far and away better then the rest, then why did he need all of those security blankets? Why does he need them now? I mean Froch should be easy work no matter where its held.Being worried about getting robbed is not an argument either. In fact its a classic cop-out.
Just in case you want to ask me about these "security blankets" here are the facts.

Re: Andre Ward is officially off his rocker
Carson isn't exactly an hour away by car, it's an hour and a half by plane and 8 in a car. Also Marty Sammons is a tremendous judge and I doubt many camps had worries about him . Judges are chosen by local commissions and the pay isn't enticing enough a lot to have international judges So yes, Ward should get ohout more, I agree but heiisn't the only guy in boxing fjghting close to home.
More importantly, when the hell has any of this stuff mattered? Has he ever been on the receivingend of a ccontroversial decision? Only the Kessler fight can it be argues that he received any preferential treatment and he dominated that bout regardless. Btw, that was Kessler so call to go to Oakland, he thought he would get his road fight out of the way early against the biggest underdog in the Super 6 first round.
Other than that, when has a judge ever protected Ward? If anything the worst judging ever in a Ward fight was in Froch where two judges submitted atrocious cards in favor of Froch. I just don't see why the judges matter?
I hope Ward does fight Froch on the road. Nobody ever alley DLH a homer for fighting in LA and Vegas though. Gatti never got shit for fighting in AC. Even Calzage only came over for two fights. None of those guys should be criticized for fighting where they could make the most money. Now it's a little precarious because the money for Ward is in England but he still has a win over Froch which has is just as big of a bargaining chip. I genuinely don't understand the anti Ward sentiment here.

The phrase "you have to come to America to be a star" uttered after a fight which drew a way bigger crowd than he ever has, in somewhere that was not America, just comes across as arrogant and deluded. Add to that the nonsense sour grapes about the fight being "less action packed than the first", and "a draw", and how can you not come to the conclusion that he is petulant ?

@amat
I'd say it is more about seeing how he deals with the pressure of not having the crowd on his side than him receiving a hometown decision. You just want to see Ward take a risk and enter the Lions Den. It is unlikely the fight would be in Froch's hometown in the UK as there isn't an arena big enough in Nottingham.
