Re: left hook follow through
If a Hook misses its not a good Hook, plus you lose Oral stability. Any shot you throw you are open Biomechanicaly to the same shot. Most of the time its to do with the biomecanics of the Knees both of them thats where the power and Technique of the shot comes from, being balanced. If the fist goes past the back shoulder you cannot generate power. The secret is the angle of the back foot and turning it, as to stop the ears from working to hard and stability. ;D

Ain`t that the truth. I was looking over my last fight and missed 2 long range hooks and one of them, left followed by right when it missed the momentum nearly took me off my feet and left me completely open for all sortsa things and a left hook in return woulda knocked me silly.

Re: left hook follow through
If you miss a left hook the best thing to do is to duck and load up for another left hook because if your opponent is looking to throw a left hook to counter you with it and you make him miss then you're in perfect position to land a counter against him.
One thing Rocky Marciano sometimes did was to follow his left hook with a right uppercut because to avoid the left hook you ducked under it and if you did that vs him you duck right into an uppercut. Also a big right cross wouldn't be bad to follow up with either.

they work fine, you just have to visit youtube to see them, but it can be done from them. some vids are selected as to not allow embedding or sharing. you can check that usually before posting.
Re: left hook follow through
I think its always good to follow through because a correct hook is feeling your shoulder snap and that should still allow you to stay in balance. As someone else said a good way to keep yourself safe would be to either slip after you throw it or use it in combination with a righthand behind it from a conventional stance. Basic good combination is lefthook righthand and then slip.
