I believe he's the coach for the Italian national team. Not sure if he trains any pro fighters.

Ray Mercer was the one who trashed his nose. Francesco was ahead on points before that happened. The fight used to be on youtube but now it's been removed.

cheers tigerfan! remembered it was for the WBO but forgot who destroyed him, think i got mixed up cos damiano was supposed to fight holyfield as a replacement for tyson but then got injured & bert cooper got the shot at holyfield, loved that fight as well as cooper well rocked evander

Damiani was an odd one.Physically looked no part of a solid heavyweight but was a decent boxer on occasion.He was schooling Mercer and doing a number on him up until that one single shot.It looked like someone had turned a faucet on as he sat there on the canvas his nose was pouring.He flat out no mas in his last fight against McCall.Got hit a good combo and turned his back and walked away.

He's considered one of the best, if not the best, amateur coaches in the world right now. I remember reading that after the Olympics (where they medalled better than Britain or the US with far weaker resources), those in charge wanted to keep him from training pros so they can do better at the next Olympics & at the world championships. From what I've seen of his corner work, he does look very good & if he does train pro fighters, I'd be interested to see how he does.
