Re: The Best Chins In Each Divison
Nice list.
I'm not the biggest follower of boxing by any means so this next comment might mean nothing but old Foreman took punishment like no one I have ever seen and he never even looked like he was close to being knocked down. Young Foreman did get dropped several times though.
Re: The Best Chins In Each Divison
I've seen david tua take some crazy punches without ever going down he's always the person i think off when it comes to pretty solid chins. That's a good list, i never could have come up with one.
Re: The Best Chins In Each Divison
Tua has very good head stability and posture his eyes dont miss much like most who take a shot.
Re: The Best Chins In Each Divison
I'm not sure which division you'd stick him in, but James Toney deserves to be mentioned on any chins list.
He's fought opponents ranging from 157-257 pounds, and never been knocked out in the process. He's only had one legit knockdown in his career, which I think happened 17 years ago. The knockdowns against Jones and Peter were both the result of being off-balance, he wasn't hurt in either case.

That list would not be out of place in a 'Best fighter by division' list.

I wanted to put Toney on the list but i didn't know what weight class to put him in. I was going to put him in Super Middleweight, but i chose Eubank instead.
Re: The Best Chins In Each Divison
What about a current list ICB?
With the exceptions of the Vernon Forrest fights, Shane Mosley has a real strong chin.. it's like he is wearing armor..
Pavlik took shots from Taylor which knocked him down but he got right back up.. he also took flush shots from Miranda and kept going forward.
just to name a couple
EDIT: to clarify, i'm not saying that Mosley and Pavlik should be at the top of their divisions.. those were just two names off of the top of my head that should at least be considered.

Current list ??
Heavyweight = David Tua
Cruiserweight = Steve Cunningham
Light Heavyweight = Bernard Hopkins
Super Middleweight = Librado Andrade
Middleweight = Arthur Abraham
Light Middleweight = Roman Karmazin
Welterweight = Antonio Margarito
Jr Welterweight = Ricky Hatton
Lightweight = Juan Diaz
Super Featherweight = Humberto Soto/Manny Pacquiao
Featherweight = Chris John
Super Bantamweight = Daniel Ponce De Leon
Bantamweight = Gerry Penalosa
Super Flyweight = Christian Mijares
Flyweight = Omar Andres Narvaez
Jr Flyweight = Ulises Solis
Minimumweight = Florante Condes
But there is plenty of room for debate on most of that list.

Maybe there should be an all time C4C catagory....Toney would make it on easily...TBH I can't name how many times James has hit the canvas...I think 3...and not hurt very badly in either...I think he was down against Reggi Johnson, Roy Jones and Sam Peter....I could be wrong though he may have been down more then that...anyhow...He has one of the best chins ever in any weight class

The only knockdown that hurt him was the Reggie Johnson one. If i remember right Johnson put Toney down with a left hook, Toney got up but was still stunned and Johnson continued to batter him for the rest of the round.

Duran was ko'ed at 135... I say Mosley had a better chin and has right now the best chin at 147
At 154 I say Jorge Castro beause he could really take a beating
Supermiddleweight has got to be James Toney
heavyweight David Tua or Old Foreman
at 122 I would say Wayne Maculough whatever his last name would be up there
at Cruiserweight its Quawi or if you want to keep Marciano up there put Quawi at light heavyweight, but another guy could be Evander though his chin wasn't as good as it was up at heavyweight he took some huge punches from Quawi during both their fights and lived to talk about it.

IMO Miranda's power is overrated as a one punch ko artist. Taylor couldn't even ko a 147 titlist with a solid shot and rocked Pavlik more than his previous three opponents who all fight naturally under 160 pounds, Pavlik IMO has a weak chin if anything.
Re: The Best Chins In Each Divison
I'd put DLH as the best chin at 154 among current fighters.

Yeah,he's a strange one. I'm pretty sure I aw him knocked down 2-3 times earlier in his career but his chin got better and better the higher he went in weight.
