How to stop your elbows from flaring....
I have a big problem with telegraphing my jab. The problem is that my elbow flares while throwing the left jab. I saw a neat trick mentioned by Scrap about jabbing while standing next to a wall to help straighten it out. That has worked some, but here's my problem:
The lead arm should be vertical to the floor (or so I have been told). My flexibility in my shoulders and chest has always been kind of poor, so my lead arm always drifts to the right, I hold it about at 2 o'clock. When I hold it straight at 12 o'clock, I feel tension in my shoulder. Specifically the outer head of my lead shoulder. It dosent feel natural and my shoulders tire just trying to strain to hold it in this position.
What exercises/stretches can I do to help loosen the arm and make it more natural? I feel this will help keep that jab straight.
Thanks in advance for any help/advice.

Great! Will start tomorrow.
Thanks again Scrap.
Re: How to stop your elbows from flaring....
Are you sure it's not your jabbing technique at fault? You could be turning your hand over too early in the movement causing your elbow to flick out. Try keeping your fist vertical then snapping the twist near full extension/contact.
Re: How to stop your elbows from flaring....
^ Yeah, that was a problem also. I started to use a vertical fist which helped a little, but mostly I think its the position and lack of flexibilty with the lead arm.

Adam, if you remember you put it up for me 5 years ago ;D
Re: How to stop your elbows from flaring....
hahaha yes you're right... Mrs Scrap sent them to me over MSN... I remember leaving my computer on for hours to get them all! ;)
I'm not recognising the individual stretches, I think back then I didn't really understand what I was looking at so it's hard to remember them individually... if that makes sense? ;)
Looking at that I actually understand it now... now that I understand alot more about movement of the body I'm guessing that I should rewatch them all so that the penny can drop!
I'd reccomend that everybody practice the movement that Scrap's just posted... great for shoulder stability guys... very important to treat them right as a boxer...
I'm having to rehab mine... going pretty well but obviously it would have been better to prehab it!

Definetly going to add those two into my shoulder protocol, would the same thing work but rather than pushing into a pall pulling apart a woody band?
