Boxing Exercises to improve hand speed?
Alright, I have a question about improving boxing hand speed. I don't compete in competitions, but I would like to improve my hand speed so I can be faster when hitting the heavybag.
I have heard of various ways to improve hand speed. One way is by holding 1-3 lbs dumbbell weights and throwing punches for 30 seconds straight. I've also heard of using a Pro-Shadow boxer, which is a rubber band like resistance device. The last method I've heard of is using a speed bag. However, I don't know what the best way to improve hand speed is, so that is why I make this post. I'm a heavyweight (205lbs) and I'm usually stiff in the shoulders when I throw a punch, so I want to improve my speed. Power comes with technique, I know that, but I may as well do speed as well. So please give me examples of what works for you guys' and tell me which method you think works the best. Thanks a lot. :)

relaxing helps a lot letting it flow,

hand speed is about velocity, reaction time and acceleration. train so that you increase velocity, decrease reaction time, and decrease the acceleration period. when you know how to do that, your hand speed will increase.
think plyos with regressive loads.

When you first learn to write you're slow and clumsy.
But as you learn about the letters (what) you're writing and the significance of what you are doing (why) it becomes more comfortable and your output quickens.

I tell myself to throw faster, as in, make a mental note before I step in to spar, to throw the stuff as fast as I can. Or maybe tell myself to throw more volume. Before I know it, few weeks or so...wala, I'm faster and throwing more volume.
I know there are all sorts of techniques, which likely are good for increasing speed, but I also believe a big part of it is simply in the mind.

I do like the bands, but more for getting speed from the muscle meory of getting the hands back in to round.
To explain, alot, and I do mean alot fighters, throw their punch, and leave the hand floating in space for too long afterwords, the bands create the muscle memory of snapping it right back in to guard
