ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Very thin selection of fights this weekend but espn has scraped one together tonight. The carnival act on the show has to be the reappearance of Andy Ruiz Jr as he takes on..ready for this..Kevin Kingpin Johnson :-X. And at the weight in Johnson outweighed Ruiz Jr by five lbs ???. All jokes aside Ruiz should be doing big things and is not without skill.
Frank De Alba 22-3-2 v Andy Vences 20-0-1 has all the makings of a fun scrap at 130. Egidijus Kavaliauskas 19-0 gets elevated to main event and fights Juan C. Abreu 23-3-1 for a stepping stone trinket. Card starts at 8:30 locally. NBA game airing prior so great chance chow may be delayed a bit.
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Looks like Ruiz jr took a workmanlike 10 over Johnson. Danny O'Connor missed weight and ended up in hospital. Bradley tells him to get a nutritionist. Andre Ward on mic and camera has all the passion of a Wal Mart greeter. Vences v De Alba at the bell should be good.
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Good opening round for Vences off the jab. And the California crowd boos before 1st is even over :-X. Seeing that way to much.
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Both very much in stand off and circling. Vences 1-2 on point and right hand closer and closer, looking for counter right uppercut end of 3rd.
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Tactical punch and shift kind of affair. Mostly ring center. I don't think they have clinched a single time, Vences hurt him to the body early 5th
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Legs of De Alba went 3 directions for a minute. Right of Vences moving him around and making him weary to what he puts out. Right eye little lumped on De Alba. Vences strongest round.
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Vences looks totally focused on right hand to body ending this. De Alba still bit shaky and starting to get clipped from both sides. Tide definitely turning all Vences in 6th.
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Vences putting them together. Has a bad habit of leaning over heavy to right, like to see him step around southpaw jab and show the left is alive. Different approach as De Alba hasn't been in this for last few rounds. Fugly head clash leaves De Alba blinking. Time for Vences to kick in the door.
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Ohhh big right freezes De Alba in his tracks and stock still hurt early 9th. Vences right hand happy, De Alba walking wounded but still in there. Vences needs more gears. Strong 5 punch combo last minute of round! De Alba buzzed and punching through half shut eyes at rounds end.
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
De Alba rushes him early 10th and backs Vences all over the ring. Big brass from De Alba and looking to get Vences to the body. Make easy case he won the round but clearly not enough.
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Cards 99-91 x2...98-92 Vences. And the crown boos some more. And some more being interviewed. Vences calls them out ;D and frankly rightfully so. This ain't wrestling ;D.
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Kav and Abreu opening round and both take cuts from headbutt. Very busy ref, styles making for awkward physical fight very early.
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Kav not having easy time getting inside with longer now confident Abreu in 3rd. Kav right eye ? cut now. In and out of this one but Abreu with the round.
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Kav has landed clean on Abreu and seems to only amp Abreu up in 4th. Getting off with sharp shots and connecting is Abreu and does the double chest pound end of round. Cut on Kav ruled a punch! I think he's winning late 5th and edging ahead. Hard fight both taking knocks..and the fuckin Fresno crowd boos???.
Re: ESPN: Kavaliauskas v Abreu - De Alba v Vences
Oh man his eye was a mess end of round. Abreu is an 'ugly' style fighter but he is stalling Kav out here and doing what he wants to do. Kav left on the outside a lot of the time and looking for one and done. Physically Abreu is making it
