With David Haye's emphatic win over ‘The Beast from the East’ recently, we have a new heavyweight champion of the world, breathing a whole new life into the somewhat lacklustre division, and as some would say, a dying sport.
When it was announced that Haye was going over to Germany to fight Nikolay Valuev, many thought that he would have to knock the giant out to take the belt from him in his back yard, and that if Haye settled for the points win, the judges would award it to Valuev on the strength that Haye did not do enough.
This is what happened to Evander Holyfield last year. In many observer's eyes Holyfield won the fight but the judges had decided that since he was not comprehensively beating down Valuev and had failed to knock him out, that he did not deserve the win.
Although Haye beat Valuev with speed, mobility, some very... Full Boxing Article here...

I like him a lot because he is exciting and explosive, but I'd put my money on Eddie Chambers right now. Of course, that's after the Klits decide to leave.:o
Re: Boxing Perspective: Is David Haye The Great Heavyweight Hope?
Thw whole article is slightly too biased towards Haye.
Re: Boxing Perspective: Is David Haye The Great Heavyweight Hope?
I Think He Is Because Hes Explosive And Fun To Watch.

Having paid to watch the fight live , that statement makes me laugh , Haye squeeked past Valuev , and threw less punches than any challenger ever , to win a title abroad.
Re: Boxing Perspective: Is David Haye The Great Heavyweight Hope?
Damn right, until he gets beat people will look at him as something of a saviour to the dire entertainment levels of the HW division.

In my opinion haye, did the right thing.Ok it wasn't a great fight, that was gonna light up the division.
But to me,he did everything right on the night. He made valuev look like a right mug.
What did you want him to do???...Go toe to toe with that that beast. That would have been stupid of him.Look at the weight advantage, the russian had.
Trust me,the best of haye will come.
Re: Boxing Perspective: Is David Haye The Great Heavyweight Hope?
I've never been able to stand Haye. Aside from his personality (which gives me a headache every time he opens his mouth), I don't think I can see him having the same exciting knockouts in the heavyweight division that he had at cruiserweight and such. If he does, he'll have to carefully pick his opponents. Even that will be hard as he'll sooner or later run into one of the klitschko's and I don't think those are fights that he'll be able to win (in the near future anyways). If he decisively beats them (unlike Valuev), then yea, maybe he is a hope for the heavyweight division. Just my 2 cents.
Re: Boxing Perspective: Is David Haye The Great Heavyweight Hope?
So the Klitchskos are boring and make for dull heavyweights because they fight smart and careful.......So Haye is going to breathe life into the heavyweight division yet in his only meaningful heavyweight fight he was careful and he made the fight painful to watch.....
Haye is someone with a big mouth who cant back up his words.......

You didn't read my statement , I was saying in response to the article , Haye did not win empathic ally , he threw less punches than any winning challenger I have ever seen.
Re: Boxing Perspective: Is David Haye The Great Heavyweight Hope?
Id go on record and say he is
If he blows out both klitschkos and it leads to a return in haye esque heavyweight fighting he will of indeed completely re-invented a dying division
2 years down the line if haye has gone through both klitschkos (he wont beat vitali) he may just be able to call himself the greatest heavyweight since lewis!
Re: Boxing Perspective: Is David Haye The Great Heavyweight Hope?
No he is not, he is good but nowhere near the level of the Klit brothers. He is more exciting but that does not make him better. He will not last long but it will be fun watching him.

Chambers is a lot more refined than Haye, but Haye has charisma. If Chamebrs is champ after the klitchkos are done the heavyweight division will be getting even less attention than it is now.
Re: Boxing Perspective: Is David Haye The Great Heavyweight Hope?
Wladimir Klitschko has told Sky Sports News he is tired of talking about new WBA heavyweight champion David Haye.
"I actually don't want to give you any comments on David Haye because he bailed out twice, from my fight and my brother's fight," Klitschko said.
"I'm actually tired of giving comments about David Haye.
"He's immature, he's not serious enough to take a challenge, and this is it."
Sky Sports | Boxing | News | Klitschko 'tired' of Haye
After watching him wobble Valuev and discovering that Haye has a really low golfing handicap Junior is terrified at the prospect of fighting him. He's going to hide behind his giant-headed "brother" Vitali and stay well away from getting in the ring with Haye.
