Cotto fighting Gomez makes sense now.
I was thinking about this while watching Cotto turn on the style in his dazzling but steady dismantling of Gomez.
I figured that this fight meant that Cotto beat the man who beat the man who was bedazzled and steadily dismantled by the other man of the Welterweight division.
Am I making sense?
Cotto's agenda here was obviously to put the emphasis on style and composure. To be the absolute boss.
He wanted a virtuoso type performance to rival that of Floyd's. Who wouldn't?
Anyways.... To some degree Cotto got the result he wanted, in many ways he didn’t. Gomez is still a no body.
But what’s relevant here is that Gomez is bigger and better than Gatti was say, two years ago so its a case of what Floyd did Cotto can do just as well.
Well, in sum f*ked up way, that’s how it’s played out for me at least
Personally, id like to see Antonio margarito (The man who has taken practically ALL the high risk-low reward fights) thrown into the elitists mix. He has Cotto's number IMO.
Re: Cotto fighting Gomez makes sense now.
I know what you mean,But i just figured he was looking for some exposure on the back of an easy win. I'd pick Cotto over margarito aswell. Be all action though.

"Showcase" Fight.....low risk-high exposure and dictating the terms at will.Of course....I was one who thought that Gomez could possibly take a round or two early...whoops :-X
