Has there ever been a British Mega Fight in America?
Just wondering, what's the biggest ever fight stateside between two British fighters?
Has it even ever happened?
We've had big all Mexican superfights with Barrera, Marquez and Morales but I can't think of any other huge national fights that took place on the world stage of HBO PPV.
What's the biggest British world fight ever?
Re: Has there ever been a British Mega Fight in America?
Lewis-Akinwande was in the States.. sold 1000 tickets.
Re: Has there ever been a British Mega Fight in America?
Do you mean British fights that were big in the States? Obviously none would ever be PPV.
If I remember right - Lewis-Bruno was live on HBO, Benn-Eubank 2 was live on Showtime, and recently Haye-Enzo was showtime too.

lol at Lewis Akinwande.
Basically I meant have two British fighters ever headlined a big venue like the Garden or Ceasar's Palace?
I mean virtually all of the biggest fights in history are at the legendary American fighting venues such as those above, was wondering if two British fighters had ever topped a bill in the states.
I know HBO and Showtime have covered a few big British fights but wondered if two of our boys had ever gone over there and put on a megafight.
Re: Has there ever been a British Mega Fight in America?
It would be a silly place to have the mega fight.
Re: Has there ever been a British Mega Fight in America?
Not to my knowledge no, unless im missing out on some of the lower weightclasses.
Re: Has there ever been a British Mega Fight in America?
It just wouldn't make sense, as Lewis-Akinwande sort of highlights (they knew the fight would do shit numbers beforehand but Don King, who was basically in control of the WBC at the time, and Akinwande's manager/promoter, forced it).
It's like Mexicans only fight on the west coast, Puerto Ricans the east. You fight where your audience is.
The only other fight I can think of is Welch-Akinwande on the Tito-Lueshing undercard. I remember about three people in the crowd watching that one.
Re: Has there ever been a British Mega Fight in America?
welsh akinwande came to mind for me too... scott really froze a bit that night.
then i was clutching at straws to think of another... the closest i could think of was...
Naz - McCullough ((english yemen vs irish guy))
not 100% sure if it was PPV or not in the US.
Re: Has there ever been a British Mega Fight in America?

Well hardly, I mean America is the big venue of boxing.
I mean just supposing the Klitschko's decided to fight each other in a mega fight, chances are good that HBO would want that fight in the US at one of the sacred boxing venues in a massive PPV event.
I was just wondering if we have ever had two fighters that were so big on a world stage that they fought on the world's biggest stage against each other.
Imagine if Ricky Hatton had beaten Floyd and Manny and was a world star, and Amir destroyed Malignaggi and then beat J M Marquez, all the fights taking place in America on HBO.
If they were to meet in a mega fight where it would be held? Is it possible that as both were wanting to smash the American markets they would fight each other in American on HBO at the Garden or something?
Not out of the question if they were big enough stars stateside, although obviously I know suggesting Hatton could beat Manny and Floyd is stretching reality a little!
