What Boxer Has Been in with the Tougest Opponents the Last 5 Times Out?
What boxer has been in with the toughest competition and has come away the best?
Not with 20/20 hindsight, I mean at the time of each fight.
Manny Pacquiao clearly must be up. Carl Froch must be up there. Sergio Martinez must be up there. Who else?
Re: What Boxer Has Been in with the Tougest Opponents the Last 5 Times Out?
Floyd Jr. With the exception of the Marquez fight his last 5 opponents were given a good chance to beat him. From Baldomir was too big and a natural welter to Ricky Hatton was undefeated to Shane Mosley was his toughest opponent to his big fight with Oscar, etc.
Re: What Boxer Has Been in with the Tougest Opponents the Last 5 Times Out?
I'd say Sergio Martinez tops them out. Kermit Cintron,Paul Williams twice,Kelly Pavlik, and now Dziniruk. That is some pretty tough company.
Re: What Boxer Has Been in with the Tougest Opponents the Last 5 Times Out?
Sorry butchered it. Dzinziruk.
Re: What Boxer Has Been in with the Tougest Opponents the Last 5 Times Out?
Hindsight being what it is. Martinez...Bradley ??
Re: What Boxer Has Been in with the Tougest Opponents the Last 5 Times Out?
I agree with Pac and Martinez. But not with Floyd cuz he was overweight when he fought JMM.
Difinitely not the Clit brothers.
I was about to say JML. But he had the Mtagwa (which he was to suppose to win easily) and Lontchi.
I can't pick Montiel either cuz he fought Ciso Morales in his last 5 fights.
Goshdarn it. Why does it have to be "last 5 times out"? Lol.
I'll go with Pac, Martinez, and...
JMM

Floyd?....
Who picked Baldo over Floyd? Hatton was slipping long before he faced Floyd and though he won titles at WW he was given gift decisions and made his career there hit then hold hit then hold....No to mention his defense was tailor made not just for Floyd but any defensive fighter.....JMM had what 1 fight at LW before Floyd fought him and Floyd did not even come in on weight.....Oscar never beat a fighter who was P4P ranked in their prime his whole career....He could have beaten Floyd if he did not pull another Trinidad moment where he stopped fighting thinking he was up enough on the cards....Mosley was the most legit threat out of the 5
Re: What Boxer Has Been in with the Tougest Opponents the Last 5 Times Out?
I gotta go with Carl Froch. All went the distance against top quality fighters, three of which were wars:

Agree with PSL too, JMM has had a tough five fights. He'd be second behind Froch in my opinion.
Re: What Boxer Has Been in with the Tougest Opponents the Last 5 Times Out?
Yea Froch has to be at the top for me.
Re: What Boxer Has Been in with the Tougest Opponents the Last 5 Times Out?
Joshua Clottey and Margarito were not elite fighters at the time Pac fought them, not to mentioned Cotto was at a catchweight and on the downside, De La Hoya shot to pieces and weight drain, Hatton didn't have his chin anymore. See it's pretty easy to tear down a fighter's accomplishment is it?
People want to tear down Floyd's accomplishments, but at the time those fighters with the exception of JMM were threats. Hindsight is really something right?
Re: What Boxer Has Been in with the Tougest Opponents the Last 5 Times Out?
Froch.
I'd say pacman... but Clottey is a weak link... Hatton was over hyped and the catch weights also weaken his case a little
Out of every one of Carl's last 5, a sizable majority said that he would get KTFO
Re: What Boxer Has Been in with the Tougest Opponents the Last 5 Times Out?
Definately JCC Jr. , Ryan Rhodes or Kell Brook. Maybe John Murray.

Haver you ever hear a former flyweight champion fighting big former welter champions and destroying them?
No?
Okay. So STHU ;)
