Charlton sack Ian Dowie
7.34, Mon Nov 13 2006
Charlton have announced they have parted company with manager Iain Dowie.
Dowie only took over from Alan Curbishley at the Valley in May but has won just two Premiership games out of 12 this season, leaving the club bottom of the table.
The former Crystal Palace boss did lead the Addicks to the Carling Cup quarter-final this week.
But it was not enough to save his job after Saturday's league defeat at Wigan.
Dowie left Palace under a cloud of controversy when Eagles chairman accused him of "fraudulently" obtaining a release from a £1 million compensation clause in his contract.
But the former Palace boss publicly said that he wanted to leave Selhurst Park for a "new challenge" and insisted that, prior to leaving the club, no discussions had taken place with Charlton and that he had done nothing wrong.
;D
He was a great Footballer though ::**
Re: Another One Bites The Dust
Charlton are totally lost without Alan Curbishley and Bent will go if they don't turn it round soon ;)
Re: Another One Bites The Dust
It just goes to show what curbishley did at that club. Without him they seem totally lost as you say smash
Re: Another One Bites The Dust
Charlton must of been desperate to find a replacement to sign Dowie in the first place.
Hope Charlton get in some one with a brain cell. They dererve better.
Re: Another One Bites The Dust
Agreed and they have (for the last 10 years) been a top 10-12 club and on occasion challenged for Europe.
Think Curbs will come back?
Re: Another One Bites The Dust
I doubt it... Although im sure he's sent a few death threats Complaints to the Dowie family home ;)
