Underrated Punchers that pounded out a victory
Whitaker vs Mayweather.
We know of Pernell more as an illusive counter puncher, but revisiting his win over Roger showed a boxer who hadn't mastered his skill set. As a result he stood in the pocket and exchanged often.
Setting down on his shots.
PW pounded out the victory
Little known fighter named Deandre Lattimore an up in comer deemed fit to end a shell of Light hitting Cory Spinks' career brought out the best in SP.
After couple of rustfilled rounds, Cory with no legs, bad timing went into beast mode setting down on his shots and pounded out a victory.
IMO 2 examples of boxers not known for power, but actually won in such fashion in crunch time
Re: Underrated Punchers that pounded out a victory
Joe Calzaghe v Lacy and Hopkins where he went machine gun mode and threw a million punches.
Kassim Ouma was a light hitting southpaw who fought hard hitting Kofi Jantuah in the pocket and beat him. It was a suicidal move but worked due to Ouma work rate and heart.

Seemed like Paulie Malinaggi may have juiced up when he took on Cotto's brother, really landed some shots that he didn't land before not after.
And Bojado last fight, Stevie Forbes really sat down on his shots, I think it was a career best performance. What a shame Francesco lost to him, but it wasn't a sloppy or bad showing.
Forbes absorbed every shot and fired hard counters. Seemed like a power puncher that night.
Winky Wright known as a jabber, but he and Jermaine Taylor traded some hard shots. IMO, he could've won, but he let that 12th round slip away.
His guard got compromised, but he retaliated well. Not like his win over Tito with a superb jab....in this one, a nice fight broke out and yet another average puncher that even swelled up Bad Intentions

Sweat Pea knocked down, behind on points had to take out undefeated Cuban Diosbelys Hurtado.

First fight that popped in my mind was the first fight between Eric Harding and Antonio Tarver. We all know what Tarver’s punch can do, and Harding glued himself to his chest and overwhelmed him with volume. If I remember correctly, Harding broke Antonio’s ribs in that fight, mainly through sheer volume and accumulation.

I was watching that where Mundine was out boxing Ottke and on his way to taking the title. Sven, who never stops anyone, ko's him. Very shocking.

Malignaggi also stopped Senchenko to win the welterweight title in the champions backyard.
Re: Underrated Punchers that pounded out a victory
Great topic. I'm still trying to figure out how Virgil Hill turned brutal starter and annihilated Tiozzo in first round of their rematch. Maybe only his 3rd ko in about 8 years :-X. Ivan Robinson wasn't a major hitter but went to war with Gatti in a true classic but that was probably his inner Philly coming out ;D. I remember the relatively green pro Sergio Reyes bringing his 3 kos in with a near prime Orlando Canizales and more than holding his own (had him winning) over 12 up close buzz saw rounds.
Re: Underrated Punchers that pounded out a victory
Rockin Rodney Moore was a light puncher then he went on a mad KO run as a contender.
