Of all the martial art films I've watched - not much though - I think this movie had one of the most realistic choreography, of course, minus the usual theatrics or exaggerations; that is, if the viewers really understand the sport, though...
re: Favourite Martial Arts Film
36th Chamber of Shaolin
Shaolin vs Wu tang
Man with the Flying Guillotine
Most by Dragon Dynasty and Shaw Brothers are quality Martial Arts films.
Ong Bak 2 has my favorite fight scene ever.
I love Lionheart it's a classic, as well as Bloodsport. Even though the quality of fights were not the best.
I'll post back here later.
re: Favourite Martial Arts Film
I've been a Jet Li fan since "Lethal Weapon 4". I also liked "Kiss of the Dragon" a lot.
The movie itself has to appeal to me, as well as the fight scenes.

Agreed I thought Jet Li stole the show in LW4. Also some of the fight scenes in the Transporter movies are pretty good with Jason Statham.

Fearless was good also. Has anyone checked out Forbidden Kingdom with Jackie Chan and Jet Li? I have heard mixed reviews on this movie.

Didn't Jet Li and Statham do a movie together not too long ago? If they did, I missed it.
Must've had some pretty good fight scenes, too.

Watched Red Cliff, not strictly martial arts but Chinese war story directed by John Woo. Absolutely beautiful shorting of the film.

It was ok.
The fight scenes are the saving grace of the show. Story line was not bad.
re: Favourite Martial Arts Film
...when ol' Bruce just became famous in Japan, me and my friends went to watch his movies in the city of Naha. After watching couple of them, we were still not that familiar with Bruce and so on the third movie, we started to notice, 'hey guys, don't you think Bruce kinda look odd today, he looks a bit different.' No wonder, it was just a start of series of fakish Hongkong made Bruce Lee movies. Then, being the only one who could read English there among the gang (I was a so-called military brat then), I said, hey guys, it's miss-spelled, Bruce Li...and up to Bruce Le down the road. You see fellas, in Japanese alphabet, the Li, Le etc., are all spelled the same as Lee, and so the Japanese kids were all fooled into thinking that they were going to watch the real Bruce, not the macoy...
