Marquez to have a tune up fight prior to Pac war 3
Marquez Hoping for Tune-Up Fight in Mexico | 3 More Rounds
This seems like a great idea to me. Marquez has been in hibernation since his last fight, so a tune up sounds ideal. I really hope this comes off, it would set the tone brilliantly if he were to stop Diaz.

Re: Marquez to have a tune up fight prior to Pac war 3
It IS a really good idea. What JMM ought to do is fight Diaz at whatever weight he plans to show up to fight Manny so he gets used to what he can, and cannot, do with his body at that weight.

Totally, they might as well have it at 140 or even higher. Marquez needs to show that he looks okay at the weight, but it would have been even nicer to see him fight a proper JWW.

Re: Marquez to have a tune up fight prior to Pac war 3
Juan Manuel Lopez was stopped by Salido
and Vasquez was also stopped by Arce
Both fights are huge UPSETS so much more than Diaz beating Marquez.
It would be messy if Diaz is able to ambush Marquez :p

I know that ;D
Its just another deservice to Pacquiao if it happens :(
- Barrera throws the green belt in the garbage can before facing Pac. denying a 'legit' alphabet in Pac 's resume at 126
- Hatton not going for Malinaggi's IBF belt before being KTFO by Pac, again denying a legit alphabet at 140.
thus the British would say '6 division Champion' because of the absence of the alphabets at 126 and 140.
Just for records purposes :D

Re: Marquez to have a tune up fight prior to Pac war 3
Marquez by KO is probably just wishful thinking and I am not happy with the CW, but I really hope that Marquez can at least test Manny. That's all you can ask really.

I AM SURE THIS WILL BE A CLOSE FIGHT AGAIN. Actually after their 2nd FIGHT ALL fights have been ROUTS for PAC hardly losing a round. while he lost more rounds than he won againts JMM in 24 rounds.
'KONTRA PELO' is how we call it.

This is exactly right. He really should be fighting a junior welterweight or a welterweight in preparation for a fight against an ATG at 145, not Diaz who is 2-2 in his last four fights, at 135.

This fight is all WRONG!!!
Judah should be the fight!!! HELL, if Bradley don't fight Khan, it should be him(Bradley). I even go with Maidana. I'll even go with Morales or Lamont Peterson. But Diaz? I guess he's getting with the Pacman show and fighting opponents that was already beaten by a protential future opponent, to say I did better then you. (i.e. Mosley, Hatton, DLH to Floyd)
JMM is a professional. So I gotta believe that JMM will come ready to fight at his highest level. But looking past anyone in the boxing ring, have a bad smell to it. Another upset in the making. But I am glad he's staying active. I hope he wins but . . .

Re: Marquez to have a tune up fight prior to Pac war 3
marquez is a shot, used up, over the hill fighter, who will probably get sliced up so bad against Pac that the ref will stop the fight by the 5th round's conclusion.

Then the Brits are REALLY nuts. 126 and 140 were THE MAN championships (as were 112 and probably 130). The straps at 122, 135 and 147? So much bullspit.

Re: Marquez to have a tune up fight prior to Pac war 3
Maybe Chris John should move up and give Marquez a chance to beat him?

No, the Indoneisna keeps hoping he's next on Floyd's hit parade...hell it'd only be moving up four divisions and Floyd would almost certainly agree to come in at 144...until he changed his mind the week of the fight ;)

If history has taught me anything over the years, it is to not get excessively caught up in a Pac fight rooting for one of his opponents. I shall quietly decline your tempting offer. At 144 and with Marquez that bit older, I am just hoping more than anything else.

LOL. You know, you're sometimes caught in a wishful thinking and dreamy state but then your teacher wakes you up with a broom and then you realize the world is not perfect.
1 year sig bet would have been very very nice. LOL.
My fearless prediction for Pac vs Marquez
1. at 145 or 147 -------- Pac by brutal and savage TKO before the 6th round if Marquez engages Pac .
2. at 140 -------- Pac by brutal TKO before the 10th round if Marquez engages Pac
:cool::cool::cool:
I've never been wrong with my predictions in Pac's fights.;D;D;D

I don't think any of those guys you name could fairly be labelled a tune-up.

The fight is at 144, Bruce. What is your prediction at that weight then? You've predicted everything except for the weight that the fight is at.
I am making no predictions for this fight, I haven't really predicted a result since Hatton. I have been willing on the underdogs, but there have been no real expectations.

Re: Marquez to have a tune up fight prior to Pac war 3
Not keen at all of Marquez even thinking about higher then 140. Just me. But combine some seriously hefty coin, a realization that he has but 1-2 major mega wars in him at this stage and a hefty dose of revenge on the mind and JMM has earned the right to do whatever he pleases leading into the culmination of a fine career. I think win or lose, Manny will be his last fight.
Diaz really not all that bad of a choice. JMM packs on the weight and going into Manny he's not exactly entering with blinders on. Diaz has a bad case of concrete in the boots and 'Grant' stamped on his forehead. Won't tax Marquez badly and good chance for Marquez to work the legs and gauge self. Not saying its a blow out, but pretty sure Marquez will bust him up badly and as he pleases. And get payed.
-
Re: Marquez to have a tune up fight prior to Pac war 3
I hope JMM can take the win without taking too much heat but just enough to get him warm...

Re: Marquez to have a tune up fight prior to Pac war 3
for me its better Marquez should take Judah @ 140. hes currently a belt holder and also a southpaw.

That would be a Title fight far beyond the intention of a 'TUNE UP FIGHT'.

Yeah, you can't just go out and fight Judah in a tune up, he would have a very decent shot of winning. A tune up should be just that, a fight after an extended layoff to just hone and tune your skills in preparation for the big fight to follow.
Potentially getting knocked out by Zab Judah is not a tune up.

Judah is the darkhorse in this Pacman race. He's the only fighter out there, that you really don't know what you going to get. If Judah is focus, he can give anyone trouble. Unfortunely, the kids can't stay focus for a long stretch.
When Judah KO someone like Maidana or Morales next, people will take him serious!

It was a shame he had to go and put on his act so early, it would have been better for Marquez to get a few rounds in. Arum told him to lay down!
