Re: Amir Khan vs. Zab Judah fight thread - for July 23rd
This might be a surprisingly good scrap, like you say Kevin, Khan figures to win, but maybe Zab has one good fight left in him. Neither one of these Pugs has the greatest chin, so anything can happen.

Vegas? Damnit! Another eye dropping late night for me :(
Re: Amir Khan vs. Zab Judah fight thread - for July 23rd
Wow at these odds Judah any means seems worth a small stack.
Khan = 1/4 = -400
Judah = 4/1 = +400
Draw = 48/1 = +4800
Khan KO, TKO, DQ = 1 = +100
Khan UD, SD, MD = 7/4 = +175
Judah KO, TKO, DQ = 9/2 = +450
Judah UD, SD, MD = 9/1 = +900

I agree 100%.
Khan is the most likely winner but NO WAY is Judah a 4/1 shot. The odds are too wide. I believe a fighter with Judah's explosive speed/punch combo is far more dangerous to Khan than a more powerful, tougher but predictable fighter like Maidana.
Win or lose - Judah is a great bet IMO.

Yeah Judah punches straight and fast, Khan definitely looks the likely winner, but hype (Khan is the second coming vs. Judah's chicken dance) is getting in the way of how these guys look to match up in reality. These are odds even Mars_Ax would jump on.

If I was a betting man, which I am not, I would be tempted to put a couple bucks down on Judah by TKO with those odds.

Is there a televised undercard?

This is the main undercard fight, which HBO won't bother showing:
Peter Quillin vs. Jason LeHoullier, 10 rounds, middleweights.

I want Judah to win for the same reasons you all do but reading that and thinking on it more, it would probably be better for the sport with newer money if Kahn wins, so if its close expect him to.

Yeah, but you know what happens when Zab loses a close fight, he pitches a shit fit, if Khan wins, I hope it's by KO/TKO. As for newer money, upsets are good for boxing, if Zab wins, it would set up a rematch, which can't be all bad.

Yeah It will generate more but I dont know for how long though, If Kahn wins well his fan base builds in two or more countries just on their home pride; if Kahn losses I dont think those fans will build in numbers or hang around for long.Only real boxing fans stay for the long run.

For whatever reason, Khan seems to have as many "haters" as he does fans, you even see that among Brits, and on this forum. You're probably right however, he does have a fairly substantial fan base, but a loss to Zab would put a big dent in it.
One thing that gets me about Khan, his goal is to eventually get a fight with Mayweather, and even if he 'did' manage to get that far, Mayweather would absolutely demolish his sorry ass.

I don't know about that. By the time Khan is ready to fight Mayweather, Floyd will be on the wrong side of 35 - his skills have to start diminishing at some point and I could see Khan's speed giving an old Mayweather all kinds of trouble.
That being said, I'd pick even a 60% Mayweather to beat Khan unless Khan shows some incredibly development over the next two years.
