Claressa Shields vs. Christina Hammer - Showtime
Anyone ;D. Anyone at all have 1 eye open for this big ol battle for the undisputed women's Middleweight championship :boxing2:. Crazy days, we have more threads and pages on transgender boxers :-X than we do arguably on one of the best matches in female boxing. I'd like to see Hammer get the win Saturday and think she pulls it off.

Decent sit down pre-fight interview I meant to post on Fools Day. Not overly impressed with Shields. Hammer will be calm and measured and outbox Shields keeping her at distance and frustrating her all night for me. Saturday night headliner is big for the scene. Hammer may stop her late but a wide points win is probably more likely. IMO.

I'd like to see hammer win also. Shields just talks too much for what skill she has. For me, this will come down to how well Hammer can keep shields to the outside. Shields is going to come in and muddy this up and try to win it on work rate. Hammer has to tie her up effectively and/ or make her pay. Seeing how Hammer folded from those rabbit punches in her no contest with Mathis and how big of a deal Shields made of an unintentional butt against Gabriels, I wouldnt be surprised to see this end on a foul or controversy .

Refreshing indeed to see a big upcoming fight between real women boxers. Women's boxing isn't really my thing, but I tend to tune in when there's a big fight coming up. Agree with those who'd like to see Hammer win. Excessively mouthy fighters are not my thing either.
Re: Claressa Shields vs. Christina Hammer - Showtime
Shields seems to be obsessed with her supposed 'power' and hurting Hammer. Hammer will box her game but better hope the judges aren't off hitting the mini bar. I mean this as kindly as possible, in more than a few ways Shields reminds me of Big Baby Miller :-X. Big contrast in mind sets with Shields and Hammer.
Re: Claressa Shields vs. Christina Hammer - Showtime
Not a great look for Americas hopes when it comes to heavyweights. Rydell Booker v Jermain Franklin in the co main. Booker just did 18 years in prison after he lost to James Toney in 2004 :-X. Hey..at least Barry Tompkins is on the mic again.
Re: Claressa Shields vs. Christina Hammer - Showtime
Not a terrible heavyweight fight from two guys pushing 240+. For 18 yrs out Booker got in his own over the distance loss. Jermain Franklin may be undefeated but he needs a whoooole lotta work. That weight increase and stamina lows will cost him dearly.

Tuned in to see history. Let's go Shields!

Utterly ordinary , if thats the best womens boxing has to offer then it is garbage.
Couldn't break and egg springs to mind.

We have a 24 year old who has unified one division, become undisputed in another, says she is willing to go down a division to meet the perceived best and people will excuse the perceived best for ducking. And after they excuse the ducking they will not acknowledge why they excuse the ducking. 100 years and things haven’t changed. Boxing fandom
As always my stance is the best should fight the best.

....... you know I kept waking up last night wondering just what your stance was.
Re: Claressa Shields vs. Christina Hammer - Showtime
Only caught the first 3 rounds but fair play and good job by Shields. Sounds like Hammer wasn't much for the inside and had no plan b. I have to say that women's boxing has always seemed to go from fight to fight with unknown-little depth below a few names. Not slagging on it but I just have a hard time fully acknowledging it as some are doing this morning along the same lines as 'Crawford, Hopkins, Usyk' and it doesn't help to have post promotion trying to lump it in with Ali-Frazier or compare Shields to Jordan or Ray Robinson :-X. Now maybe some of that is unfair but it's not like the depth and continuity of women's boxing is always there. In any event Shields should be proud of what she's accomplished and enjoy the wave of fame.
