Re: Routine for beginner help
Hey, I just have one question first.
Are yuou looking into this for fitness or competition.
Re: Routine for beginner help
to competition...... i was thinking about hiting that bag mod-friday and drop what iv been doing and number the bag 1-8 for diffrent punches, recording myself calling random numbers out at a certine beats per min. and eventuly speeding my beats per min. for 5 3min rounds.... and lifting sat -sun
Re: Routine for beginner help
You definately need to be upping the cardio and reducing the weights. Go for a nice 30 minute run at least 3 days a week. And for your footwork, spend a few rounds on the jumprope.
Re: Routine for beginner help
i think im actully going to start doing this this week
MON. Weights in morning, Boxing in Evening
TUE. Boxing in evening
WED. Weights in morning, Boxing in Evening
THUR. Boxing in evening
FFRI. Weights in morning.
SAT. Rest
SUN, Rest
Boxing will consist of Some sets of combo punches to warm up
then 6 two min rounds with one minute rest throwing punches off of a metronom and incressing intensing Beats per Minute weekly. and some jumprope.

Hey there.
Look if you aim to box competitively I would strongly advise joining a good gym.
Single punches will not really help in boxing, so you'll need to expand your repetoire of combinations and signature movements.
As a boxing novice I feel fitness needs to be neg;lected for a short time as evry waking moment should be grasped to practice boxing technique.

I noticed in another thread you mentioned you drink alcohol a lot. If you have money and time to drink, then you have money and time for a boxing club where you'll get invaluable boxing knowledge AND training. Sounds more like a priority problem to me.
Not trying to be a smartass, just making an observation.

will alot as in ill go threw a bottle of whiskey in a month. and most of the time i dirnk its at partys where there are kegs or whatever. so im not realy spending much money atall on booze. and i usualy dont drink lett late at night. i work about 6 days a week 9am-7pm so going to a gym to train after work im usualy to tired to put more than a hour in... right now im lifting weights for about 45min befor work and i hit the bag for about 30-45 min after. and the gyms around here cost alot.
once i get a raise and dont have to work as much to make my bills i will be going to a gym. i want to learn the basics and whatnot now insted of waiting. i have all the equipment i could need. i just need to know what the best way to use it is... i still want to lift weight to cuz my goal weight is 100kg. and i realy cant lose any more weight so i figure i should just go up.
Re: Routine for beginner help

no. i know some people that are into MMA fighting but no boxers, they are all ground fighters, as am i.
The gym i used to go to was GREAT, we had a world class muai thi fighter as a coach, and same for the grappling. but the gym cost $120 a month or somethin like that

Now I must admit I would willingly pay that for world class training, but I understand financial constraints sometimes disallow this.
The Title dvd's are a good source of tutelage.
Re: Routine for beginner help

Those 'jab-cross-jabs' are really a bitch, they will wear your shoulders out and get you out of breath in a hurry.
