The WBC Board of Governors has voted unanimously to order an interim title in the heavyweight division under the WBC rules and regulations guidelines and protocols.
Dominique Breazeale, with a record of 20-1, became the mandatory contender of the WBC Heavyweight division in November 2017. Breazeale, in an exemplary action, accepted the WBC’s ruling to support the efforts to potentially finalize the fight between Wilder and Joshua throughout 2018 as well as accepting the WBC sanctioning of a voluntary defense of champion Wilder vs Tyson Fury which took place on December 2018.
The WBC’s ruling during the annual convention addressed the Wilder vs Fury match, the potential Wilder vs Joshua match as well as the status of the mandatory obligations of the division.

Re: Whyte v Breazeale ordered by WBC for interim title
Fucking ridiculous really. You should only have an interim champion if the proper champ is injured or something. Not when the proper Champion is actually fighting. Fucking clowns.
Re: Whyte v Breazeale ordered by WBC for interim title
Agreed, although this isn’t a bad match up in itself. if they would just call it an eliminator then whatever, but of course they don’t get a sanctioning fee then. The bigger problem for me is these two, especially Brezeale, already got smashed by Joshua. It’s why I’m fine with the Miller fight, as long as Fury and wilder have their rematch in the same time frame. There are no better options.

If they looked different someone would call the gold, silver or interim titles “major titles”
Re: Whyte v Breazeale ordered by WBC for interim title
I like this fight Breazeale took some huge punches from AJ and is a durable fucker.

Meaning?
Re: Whyte v Breazeale ordered by WBC for interim title
Ugh. Breazeales a nice guy but he doesn't belong near a title. And Whyte shouldn't have to jump through more hoops to get a top dog in the ring. Breazeale starts out like a guy waking up off a bender on a Sunday morning and Whyte fights off the jab and it should be over early. Only thing they have in common is being beat by AJ because they've gone in complete opposite directions after.
Re: Whyte v Breazeale ordered by WBC for interim title
I like Breazeale, he took his lumps off AJ like a man and was a good antidote to Martin who folded like a deckchair at his earliest convenience. Breazeale's bravery was endearing, I want him to do well.
I don't see Breazeale winning this one. I don't buy into the vastly improved Whyte line, for me he was better when he was a lunatic a few years back but he will still have too much all around for Breazeale. He'll move better, hit harder, use better fundamentals, and will probably batter Breazeale to a standstill after half way.

Dominic Breazeale admits he may ditch Dillian Whyte fight in favour of Deontay Wilder showdown
The American is in line for a WBC heavyweight title shot
Dillian Whyte could be set for heavyweight disappointment once again as his proposed WBC ‘interim’ title fight with Dominic Breazeale is in jeopardy.
After a bout with Anthony Joshua fell through, the Brixton heavyweight was ordered to face Breazeale for the right to take his spot as Deontay Wilder’s mandatory challenger.
This order was made as the WBC believed Wilder was on the verge of agreeing a rematch with Tyson Fury and wanted to mop up the mandatory situation in the meantime.
Now however, it seems this may not be the case as Fury has instead signed a co-promotional deal to fight on rival US network ESPN.
“I’m excited,” said Breazeale told Inside PBC on Fox about the news, “That was the biggest thing that’s happened [to me] in the last 15 months.

“A situation like that where Fury kind of pulls out of his rematch is the best thing for the WBC mandatory.
“I’m super excited to take the fight, I’m waiting for the phone call with the date.”
This is of course bad news for Dillian Whyte, as his opportunity to become Wilder’s mandatory may now go begging.
When asked directly about Whyte, Breazeale explained: “That’s actually a fight we’ve been negotiating.
“Me and Dillian Whyte’s people have been talking. Al [Haymon] has done a great job of putting that together, we’re actually moving that ball and trying to get a date set on that.
“But with this news on Wilder coming out, I can’t pass on a world title.
“If I don’t get the world title, I’ll definitely take the WBC ‘interim’ title, for sure.”

It's a bit nuts that Breazeale even has multiple 'options' ;D.

I smell Eddie Hearn behind this?

You forgot the Diamond Belt (no joke... look it up).
Rumor has it they're coming up with Platinum and Titanium Belts as well.
Then of course they have their special occasion belts like the revered Adolfo Lopez Mateos belt.
I myself am contacting them to see how much for a belt of my own naming.
