Battle of El almein
10-23-1942 at 9:40PM mark the beginning of the battle of El almein. General Montgomery army soundly defeated the Desert fox and killing 25,000 of his troops. As Churchill said it was the beginning of the end. Britain owes a great deal to General Montgomery. To all who are still living I say thank you.

Re: Battle of El almein
Take time to talk to your local WWII and Korea and well hell any vet who is ready to talk about what they did. I talk to a few WWII vets, they were true heroes every last one of them
as far as generals go I still think Patton was the best, not just because of the movie, but just because he WAS the best. People hated him but he got the job done, it's best for everyone that Ike had him on a short leash though, he died tragically, shortly after WWII ended, he would have been a great help in Korea.

Re: Battle of El almein
WWII has been one of my interest of topics for years and seriously, Monty credit for that battle is wayyy overrated: they were fighting 10 men vs one and 3 tanks vs one, without mentioning that Rommel had little if no support at all from the Luftwaffen and was crucially lacking repairing pieces; Matter of fact, way previous to that Battle Rommel was staggered by the number of supply pieces the american army had and was providing England with, in his memoirs, he even state that war would be impossible to win for him till he would receive as much supply as the Brits or the Americans.
Indeed, Monty was a good general, just a bit over rated and nowhere as close as Rommel's genius military talking.
