Greatest moments in boxing
THE GREATEST ACHIEVEMENTS
Without a second thought, the greatest achievement in boxing
history the feat by HENRY ARMSTRONG of winning three titles in
the space of 10 months.
But there are many other great moments and achievements
from heavyweights to flyweights. Likely, we could all list the
top ten achievements. One example is FLOYD PATTERSON
being the first heavyweight to regain a title. But, retiring
undefeated like ROCKY MARCIANO deserves some
consideration in the top ten great feats in boxing.
Re: Greatest moments in boxing
Max Schmeling / Joe Louis 1 and 2.
No 1 was Fight of the year, when Louis lost in the 15th by tko
No 2 billed as fight of the century, even if it did only last one round when Louis ko'd Max.

Re: Greatest moments in boxing
Holyfield being dead tired in his third match with Bowe, right after an exhaustive fourth round COMING OUT IN THE 5th and BOOM a left hook from hell to knock big daddy Bowe down.
I have no idea how much he had to dig down to get that punch going but thats as a rocky moment that I can recall.

I thought Leonard-Duran 1 was fantastic, though. It had such a huge buildup.... and back in those days it was mostly closed-circuit TV (damn that was a long time ago). And the fight was great. Hotly contested, although I didn't like Duran's blowing Leonard off after the fight.

Re: Greatest moments in boxing
The perfect punch, that sweet left hook by the one and only Robinson in his rematch vs Fullmer.

The most historically significant fight of all time. ;D Louis vs. Schmeling II, to me, is the greatest fight of all time, just because of the background and the buildup.

In my opinion, the second best punch ever thrown on camera. The first, of course, being the punch that knocked out Jersey Joe Walcott in the 13th round vs. Marciano.
Re: Greatest moments in boxing
That punched snapped Jersey Joe's head back so viciously it was sickening, The reason I dont rank that higher is because he was old whereas Fullmer was a guy who won vs Robinson and he was still in his prime and never been KO'd

The punch was that perfect Fullmer never even realised he lost as he was walked back to the dressing room.
Re: Greatest moments in boxing
The beauty of it was that the fight was going to be stopped due to a cut Robinson suffered and he just asked for one round and god damn, that dude is number one for a reason. He delivers.
