In my eyes, Mayweather-Alvarez proves Arum was the problem
In my eyes, the reason Mayweather vs. Pacquiao didn't get made is because of Bob Arum. I think if anyone doubts that by calling Floyd a ducker is an idiot at this point. Floyd taking a fight with Alvarez to me tells the world that Arum didn't want to put his boy in there with Mayweather. I have so much respect for Floyd in taking this one as it is high risk, and he could have gone the easy route with a Khan fight.

The problem was one fighter not wanting the blood testing. Case close

You beat me to this. I'm not going to say it was Arum alone that didn't make Pacquaio- Mayweather happen. I just think it's indicative of how deep the divide between Top Ranking and Golden Boy really is. That was the biggest money fight in boxing history and it wasn't made. As great as this bout is for boxing, it could be a cold winter and thats not good. They need to get over their shit and make fights.

Yeah but some fans claim Mayweather ducked Margarito & Cotto. Yet he fought Cotto as soon as he left Arum. Really, I think it is proven that Arum is the reason we don't get the best fights.

Well looking at it, Top Rank won't have much of a choice soon. The talent pool is with Golden Boy, and soon Arum will be forced to rely on rematches to make decent dough.
Re: In my eyes, Mayweather-Alvarez proves Arum was the problem
Look how big time promotion has played out since the will-they-won't-they situation a few years ago. Golden Boy have signed almost every meaningful fighter around the 140-147 weight classes. They're definitely the biggest promotional outfit in America right now. Top Rank would have been in an even worse position when it comes to making meaningful fights if Manny had fought Floyd and lost comprehensively. But because they didn't fight Arum has been able to match Manny against all his Top Rank guys and keep the big paydays coming for his firm. If Manny had fought and lost to Floyd three or more years ago Arum may have been well on the road to Don King land by now. There's no way Arum wanted that fight to happen.
Re: In my eyes, Mayweather-Alvarez proves Arum was the problem
Floyd Mayweather didn't want to do business with Bob Arum either. It's a two way street. I think there's a lot of smoke and mirrors here on both sides. I really have a hard time believing Golden Boy is any different than Top Rank.
At the end of the day, Floyd wouldn't do business with Bob Arum, and Bob Arum wouldn't do business with Floyd. That's the bottom line.
Maybe I've turned cynical, but I blame both parties.
Re: In my eyes, Mayweather-Alvarez proves Arum was the problem
Both parties are to blame and it will go down in history as perhaps the biggest blunder of all time.

This is the same Floyd that has ignored the fight for the past 12 months and forced Canelo to move his fight with Trout from his undercard because Floyd was going back on a promise to face him next!!!
People should thank Guerreo for this fight....if the numbers and losses on that fight for the network hadn't been so fucked up Floyd wouldn't have had his hand rammed up his back to make this happen!
