Your number one is mine as well. Such a great technician, a tough guy and a great champion.
Jimmy Wilde would be next. The idea that he fought almost his whole career giving up 10-15 pounds and was a huge KO puncher? Astonishing!
He was only on the seen a short time, but I thought Colin Jones was just exemplary. Not a great athlete, but a hard, hard man.
Howard Winstone was undisputed world champion while missing parts of three fingers. I'm not even sure how to think about that!
Re: British boxers all time favourites
My favourites are varied; some great & some not:-
Carl Thompson - I'm a huge fan of The Cat. Tough as old boots & was always involved in exciting fight.
Lennox Lewis - Class act that never ducked anybody & the best heavyweight of his generation.
Pat Barrett - Short career, but very exciting fighter that could be hugely explosive.
Prince Naseem Hamed - I loved his swagger; brutal punch power & a real crowd pleaser.
Nigel Benn - A true warrior who never knew when he was beaten, except for his last fight.

Nigel was everything you want wasn't he?

He certainly was.
Benn was a joy to behold as a fight fan.
I just wish that there were more like him nowadays.

Good point.
I should have added Bruno too.
A decent campaigner who persevered until he finally won a world title.
Only really let himself down in his last fight.

Re: British boxers all time favourites
i enjoyed eubank in the ring too, he'd have to be up there
Re: British boxers all time favourites
Benn for me. # 3 fav boxer all time. Hoko is up there, helluva blood and guts scraper.
Re: British boxers all time favourites
Billy Hardy who fought a close fight with Orlando Canizales
Shean Neary because of his war with Andy Holigan
Nigel Benn for sheer viciousness
Paul Ingle for heart and determination in beating Junior Jones in New York
Lloyd Honeyghan for beating the great Curry and defending the undisputed title on a number of occasions.
Kevin Luishing who dropped Trinidad and fought an epic fight against a local fighter whose name I have forgotten
Richard Williams who could have been a contender and lost to Martinez before he came famous.
Ricky Hatton for beating the great Tzsyu and becoming undisputed champ at the weight by not hiding behind Frank Warren's apron unlike Joe Galzaghe.
Froch for having the mettle to fight Pascal, Taylor, Dirrell, Kessler, Abraham, and then Johnson, Andre Ward next.

NOBODY in the US saw the Ragamuffin Man coming. Did the Brits?
Re: British boxers all time favourites
I am not British but many of my favorites are. Lloyd Honeygan, Ken Buchanan, Carl Thompson and of course Chris Eubanks but Nigel Benn, what a wrecking ball and the list goes on.
