What are some Hypothetical responses if Floyd loses?
There are i lot of posts in which many point out the fact that Shane is old as an excuse in the event that floyd wins.
I wonder, what are some of the possible responses these same people will use if Floyd loses the fight.
I will go out on a limb an say none of them will be "Mosley is just a better boxer or fighter"...
Re: What are some Hypothetical responses if Floyd loses?
Interesting thread. I'll bite, though I don't think anyone should make excuses for Floyd if he loses.
He was too small as a welter (though that would ignore Mosley's progression from LW).
He was rusty. The JMM fight was such a gimme that he hadn't had a challenge in over 2 years.
Mosley is the first legit puncher he has faced above JWW.
He had a bad chin that was hid by his excellent defense. Mosley just caught him with a lucky/well-timed shot.
He got old and past his prime over night.
His socks were itchy.
Not really an excuse, but people will say that's why he's been ducking a legit WW.

Re: What are some Hypothetical responses if Floyd loses?
It depends how he loses. Was it a bad decision, a KO, a close fight decision, or a one sided fight decision. So the responses are contingent on the details of the fight and how it ends. But I can't really see any reasonable excuses sounding good if either fighter loses especially if its Mayweather. I think if you're looking for hypothetical excuses it will be if Mayweather easily outpoints Mosley. Even though everybody seems to agree that Mosley is the best chance to beat Mayweather people are already saying things like Mosley has been inactive too long and Mosley will be close to 39. Buy I will throw one out there.
Mosley just has his number.

He was drained by the blood testing.

I disagree, I think Pacquiao is a much bigger threat to Mayweather. Followed by Mosley, Williams, and pre-Pacquiao Cotto (I think that fight took a lot out of him, but that remains to be seen).

Wow, I'm surprised. Pac is much more susceptible to getting outboxed, which is Mayweather's forte, than Mosley would be. But do you really think Pacquiao is a "much bigger threat" or just a bigger threat?
Re: What are some Hypothetical responses if Floyd loses?
No matter who wins or who loses between the two, there should be no excuses made on any side. Dot.
Re: What are some Hypothetical responses if Floyd loses?
The kids kept him awake the night before the fight. Had the hershey squirts.
No, the only thing I can think of that Floyd might say and his nuthuggers would get behind was a hand injury. I'm a Floyd supporter, but I don't go for that. If you lose, you lose.
I think Floyd just might be gracious if he loses. He's always complimentary after he wins.
Re: What are some Hypothetical responses if Floyd loses?
I think a reasonable excuse if Floyd loses is that his Chinchilla skin shorts were chaffing.

I think Pacquiao is a much bigger threat. I still think Mayweather would beat him, but I think he possesses several attributes which make him more dangerous than Mosley. He's younger, more adaptable, more dynamic, faster (arguably), hits almost as hard, he's a southpaw (I've seen several knowledgeable posters demonstrate that Mayweather's defense is designed for fighting right-handers), he has better movement, and, despite Mosley's great win over Margarito, he's looked like the much more impressive fighter recently. Mosley has been susceptible to being outboxed as well. Cotto, Winky, and Forrest all did it by relying on their jab and those fights showed the difficulty that Mosley had making adjustments (though I think he did a fairly good job in the Cotto fight).
That is why I feel Pacquaio is a bigger threat than Mosley or any of the others I mentioned. I still think Mayweather - Mosley is a great, compelling fight, I just expect Mayweather to win.

Mayweather post-fight loss interview -
Quote:
It's cleary obvious that someone within the Mosley camp tampered and switched his blood and urine samples. Someone is on the take, I smell the old suitcase under the table scenario Max.I demand another test, and I want to be present when it's taken, and in the lab when it's analyised, and if thats not conclusive, I then want a second opinion, and if I'm still not satisfied, a 3rd,4th,5th blah, blah, fucking blah."

Behave.
Like someone else say's it all depends how he loses, points, KO disqualification?
Maybe he'll do a Pacquiao and blame the gloves like after morales or maybe the boxing boots giving him blisters like after Marquez?
Maybe he'll do a hatton and blame the training camp and floyd snr
Or how about Tommy Hearnes and the leg massage pre marvin hagler
If it's good for the goose, it's good for the gander.
Re: What are some Hypothetical responses if Floyd loses?
Unless there are sure signs, I don't think anyone could come up with a valid excuse. Mayweather is the best boxer in the sport & will always be the favorite in any fight he's in until he loses.
But if something happens like his hands do break & he can prove this with post-fight tests, it is a valid reason as to why he possibly lost. Nobody expects a nascar driver to win with 3 wheels so I don't know why anybody would expect Mayweather to win with 1 hand.
But if he's crisp & loses cleanly, what can anybody say?
Heck, people diminish his wins. Imagine what they'd do if he lost. 99.9% of valid reasons wouldn't be accepted. But that is Mayweather's bed to lay in. He's built up an aura of invincibility & perfection and if he doesn't deliver he deserves some of the backlash. I'm sure he'd expect it.

I think someone should start a thread on that and have a poll as to who is the greatest threat to Mayweather's 0? Or was there such a thread already?
