K1 world champion and Glory fighter Chad Sugden turns to boxing

Chad is quality at boxing you can tell from his k1 fights that he is very good at boxing. He said he had a good amatuer career and wants to progress in boxing now. He's only young too but he's achieved a lot already. He had a Thai fight last year with the UKs number 1 Michael Wakeling and lost but he's the best of the best really. But he went on to have success in glory after that. He's an ISKA world champion too. He fought a lad from the gym I use to train in years ago Jake Barton and even back then I remember jake saying his boxing was really good and he knocked out Jake. I'm friends with Kev Ward the ISKA world champ for his weight and he said he had quality sparring with him.
It should be good to see his progression into boxing I think he can do well though.

Traditionally kick boxers and mma type fighters do not do well at boxing. They kind of have a unusual stance and seem mechanical. What makes you think he will be more fluid and natural?

K-1 is different than the cage stuff you see today training wise. Boxing is as important as kicking. I followed it quite a bit when it burst onto the scene and the old PKA days. Many of these guys can really box. Its pretty close to boxing as my favourite combat sport. Jean-Yves Theriault was my idol back in the day. You are right though in that the other disciplines don’t transfer to boxing as a rule save some special Thai fighters but not all that many K-1 fighters from the top of the heap have even attempted it. Based on the testimony of a guy at Tams gym this dude could do well. What I find amazing is how these long time k-1 fighters keep their feet on the floor after years of using them for strikes and learned mandatory kicks per round? How could they not get caught up in the moment and do a kick to the head?

Remember Bowe kicking a fighter when he got upset and should have been disqualified himself. Can't remember him being a kick boxer in another career. When I first saw it I was disgusted and sure he would get himself fined for doing it. Just seemed so wrong and undisciplined.
You are right instinctively they must be programmed to use their other limbs and tactics, that must be hard to be not use.
