The Price is right!...
Everyone's favourite heavyweight David Price returns to action next month on the Smith Skoglund undercard. He'll be fighting a familiar face in Zumba Love. Love, roughed up by Ustinov, poleaxed by Joshua, gave good rounds to Martin, Ruiz Jnr, Molina, Old as fuck mental dope head Briggs.
Not sure what Price has been up to since the Hammer disaster but unless he's been squirrelled away someone working on his demons I cant see this latest escapade being any different than the last, or the one before that, or the one before that. He'll flatten a few then blow up at something on the fringes of quality. If Love has got half a brain, he'll do fuck all for the first few rounds and see if Price wont do all the work for him.

Re: The Price is right!...
Price seems like a nice bloke.
Let's not forget that he was beaten by a couple of cheaters.
Cotto had his undefeated record ruined by a cheater as well..ban all the cheating scum for life.
Price has the height, reach and power.
His confidence and heart has taken a massive knock from cheaters.
His last fight...no excuse..he was shattered after the 4th round.
Let's get behind him and wish him the best..

Re: The Price is right!...
Thought we were going into a flash back thread of great American morning television while staying home from school sick looking at thread title ;D
Not sure where Price is now but this Love guy he's fighting is a bit of a nut. The version that extended and connected often with a gassed out Briggs may have given him problems.

How would you compare Price to Audley in achievements and skillset?

Kalle Saurland is his manager, a German I think who speaks English with an English accent, always had a lot of time for him. He promoted the Haye Valuev fight in Nurnburg and it was the best boxing evening I ever had, fantastic facilities and service for fans. Good luck to him taking a risk with David Price and I hope he does well.

Audley won prize fighter twice :)

Re: The Price is right!...
Less than a week to go and the big fella hasn't been pulled out yet. The Russian would have a solid chance of leveling AJ let alone the big plumber.
For Pricey's sake they should get him tanked up to the eye balls on vodka and redbull and tell him to throw bombs until he feints with exhaustion, either way he'll be kipping.

Re: The Price is right!...
Let’s hope Price can cause the upset.
He has all the tools to do it..but all the tools seem to be covered in grease.

David Price and my hopes for him.
Back before Joshua was getting his push I thought David Price was the next hope. He was the guy getting the push and he lost to people who ended up being drug cheats right after their fights with him.
He lost to Tony Thompson and I was close to tears and couldn’t believe it (a fact Ross took advantage of the little vermin). However I am not ashamed nor worried about my emotions.
Tonight he can go back into contention and my hope is that he does!
I anticipate a Povetkin KO win with my head but my heart would LOVE so much a Price win.
It’ll mean more to me than an AJ win because an AJ loss means little, he’ll come back better if he loses.
Let’s go price!

My worry is that his chin is so fragile that he won’t be able to take any of Povetkins digs.. look what he did to Mike Perez.

Bruno had stamina issues aswell! Two of Prices loses were because he gassed out after like 3 rounds so you may be right.

Re: David Price and my hopes for him.
Price needs to stop before he gets SERIOUSLY hurt in the ring one time.
-
Re: David Price and my hopes for him.
Price has no inside game and seemed reluctant again to throw his greatest weapon..The Jab.
-
Re: David Price and my hopes for him.
Hell Price needs to pack it in shit he is going to get hurt 5 times he's been sparked best to think call it a day.:vd:

Re: David Price and my hopes for him.
I watched it with great interest, firstly because David is such a likable bloke, and secondly because Kalle Sauerland is my favourite boxing promoter of all time, and Kalle has taken him on, obviously as a gamble in the piss poor alphabet heavyweight stakes. I had a sentimental bet on David, at ridiculous odds, and at one stage I thought I might be a winner, not to be. The first shot he took was hard, he dropped his hands, the ref did nothing and then Povetkin lummoxed him. To be fair I wouldn't have liked to have been that ref, so you can't really blame him, I hope David retires now and good luck to a nice bloke in a less risky future career.
-
Re: The Price is right!...
Sauerland dumped Price years ago.
Fair play to the big fella, can't believe he went past the 9 minute mark, over 12 minutes is a borderline heroic performance. Well done.
-
Re: The Price is right!...
Price could still stay make money fighting a Chisora or a Joe Joyce..he has all the tools but can’t fix the tyre.
-
Re: The Price is right!...
Price has a future, he can take some confidence in his performance and can get some wins at domestic level.
-
Re: The Price is right!...
Yeah this fight stole the show after an anti climactic main event.
I predicted that this would be a devastating ko like everyone else and it was one of the most brutal finishes Ive seen. I was worried we would be deprived of that kind of finish when I saw who the ref was but ian fosters incompetence worked the other way this time and he couldn't get in quick enough to stop a defenceless man from nearly getting decapitated. Povetkin is brutal. He's has a lot of kos like that and price has been on the end of similar aswel.
The fight itself was entertaining and competitive. Price seemingly had all the physical advantages but got greedy when dropped the first time. I think everyone got carried away with price's knockdown. I dont think povetkin was out on his feet. He was going for a home run right hand, got caught by a left hook and lost his balance. He was thrown around a lot in the Klitschko fight too where his balance made it look worse than it was. The finish came when POV got round the guard to stun price and povetkin never been one to let an opponent off the hook.
it was a good fight to watch and price should be proud for giving one of the best fighters in the division a test.

Price will get hurt if you keep gassing him up. He cannot do it. He is not even a Eubank Jr. type who just clowns in the ring and loses rounds as a result. Price is not an elite, professional fighter. He will get seriously hurt one day. He needs to stop, and stop NOW!

If he stays away from the elite fighters he can earn a good living as a boxer.

Everyone is an elite fighter for him. If he is fighting stiffs, there is no money in that. What he makes he may end up owing his managers and trainers. Stop, now!
For example, Erkan Tepper was SUPPOSED to be an easy fight. He got BRUTALLY clocked.
-
Re: The Price is right!...
I really enjoyed the fight. Price looked like he was exorcising demons during the course of the fight and was growing into it. When Povetkin initiated attacks he had little difficulty dealing with it, just wasn't getting enough work of his own off, but I thought it was coming. Price was actually looking pretty comfortable and the least likely to blow up, then....he punched with Povetkin one time too many. The right hand did all the damage but that left hook cous de gras was fucking brutal.
Brave effort, ballsy, but retire now.

I thought he did enough to show that he can campaign at a lower level and have a little success.

Re: The Price is right!...
I was listening to Pricey earlier, he was waxing lyrical about his performance against Povetkin, he now knows he belongs at the highest level, Povetkin was saved by the bell and Pricey was in total control until getting caught with that one cracking righthander. He's so relaxed and confident for this fight.
Sergey Kuzmin - 31-years-old, 227-23 Amateur record (European Gold Medalist), 12-0 (9kos) as a pro.
7/1 KO 1 / 3/1 rds 1-2 ---- Price obviously has a bombers chance against anyone - 2/1 the fight doesn't go to round 3.
Hopefully he doesn't see what he did to Joe Joyce in 30 seconds.

Re: The Price is right!...
Kuzmin on paper is a decent Puncher with 9 KO wins from 12 or 13 fights.
That was a Brutal KO loss against Povetkin too so I wonder how that will play on his mind on Saturday.
Price needs to let his hands go from the off for once and roll the dice.
Sitting back feeling this guy out is suicidal and I just see Price on his back staring at the Wembley arch as soon as the Russian lands.
Hope I'm wrong but this is David "No chin" Price we're talking about here 😁
