Dere is yet another highly decorated Ukrainian amateur boxer joining the pro ranks.
I figure Jacobs will be a little too stiff a test for him at this point, but should be an excellent fight.
Happy to see the middleweight division getting crowded with real talent.
This is an excellent fight. I'm backing Derevyanchenko, at least one good thing has come from stripping GGG.
I really didn’t think this fight would end up getting made. Glad it has though. Hopefully the rest of the middleweights follow suit and fight other top guys in the division.
Ballsy move by Jacobs. This guy is supposed to be a boogie man of sorts from accusations GGG dodged him as a replacement for Chavez Jr.
It's not just the name but style and look wise Derevyanchenko reminds me a bit of Loma. Quality fight and fans win. But can see speed and accuracy causing Jacobs all kinds of problems off his lackluster approach with Sulecki.
Understand the "Ukraine fever" from everybody, but I still think it's a mountain too high for Dere at this point.
One bad outing does not a career define.
Alpha, put me down for an early pick for Jacobs, TKO.
Could very well be but then again what long deep high caliber rounds has Jacobs logged other than Golovkin. He's not faced a guy with pop in both hands who can shift him out of his boots for rapid right hands in a very very long time, and that one didn't end well.
Brilliant fight this one and I think Jacobs is gonna have to dig deep just to stay in there for 12.
Hopefully the winner fights Saunders and we can start to get the belt holders actually fighting each other.
I just keep thinking about Jacobs last fight. How you could see him turn it on and off on and off. He could only keep it on for very short bursts. Sure if a guy crumbles from that he could set his pace and dominate. But if the person can stand up to it I just don’t know if he can keep his energy up. I work with a lot of people that have had cancer and they all say how hard it is to drum up energy.
Maybe he had an off night, maybe he rises to the level of his opponent, or maybe the miracle is beginning to lose his shine. I won’t take anything away from Derevyanchenko if he wins, but this is what I’m thinking about going into it.
Ebb n Flow ends in competitive Draw.
This looks set for Oct-27 at the Garden.
Sweet that's the weekend after Saunders v Andrade 😎
