Actual boxers training routine.
Id like to know if any of you have a training routine of some famous boxers.. Like I know some1 posted the old training regime of Mike Tyson in the 80's..
But id like to know if anyone have the training regime of : Arturo Gatti, Felix Trinide or Oscar De la Hoya or Shane Mosey, Roy Jones.. Something like that.. I am very curious of what they do..
Re: Actual boxers training routine.
Buy the book "Workouts from Boxing's Greatest Champs" is has it has the workouts of Hatton, Ali, Vargas, Tszyu and others. Pretty interesting. I got it for Christmas from my son.

LOL I was going to recommend that book for the curious.
It has some interesting sample routines - I wouldn't take them as gospel, I mean would you tell your opponent your workout ;) Christy Martin does 15 press-ups? 8)
Re: Actual boxers training routine.
Why would it matter if you told someone your workout? It's boxing, not rocket science. Most workouts are pretty much the same. It's not so much what you, it's the intensity and dedication you put into it.
Re: Actual boxers training routine.
What's so difficult about 15 press ups?

mmmm actually... I don't think they care much about showing what they do, they just want to hide their strategies..

Exactly. Would you believe if a pro boxer told you then only did 15 press-ups? No neither would I.
You guys are forgetting the mental side to boxing.
If I say I spar 10 rounds my opponent may think, right I'll spar 20 and I'll be twice as good. ;) 8)
Re: Actual boxers training routine.
hey you boys who have that book, which fighter would you say has the most dedicated training regieme? or the wierdest?
Re: Actual boxers training routine.
hmm dunno but Kostya with a tennis ball strapped to his head looks weird......but I've seen something similar in martial arts. Hand-eye coordination, reflexes ;)
Re: Actual boxers training routine.
I've seen a few people doing that with a tennis ball, although it sounds great I always think your getting a good look at the ball before it even gets to you, you can make your mind up on where its going to be whilst its going away from you.
(Im particularly talking about the tennis ball drills done with a partner)
Re: Actual boxers training routine.
I think you should have it on elastic so it snaps back ;D

Re: Actual boxers training routine.
What surprised me most was that most people only spent about 2 hours in the gym. Sorry, Missy, I thought you were saying that 15 press ups was hard.
