Re: Sky marketing machine
So true 6 months of plugging Haye v Bellew 2 every second of every day makes me sick.
Of course it will get viewers because it is down your throat all the time.
Re: Sky marketing machine
Before Eddie took over did Sky just ignore selling the product? Warren, Maloney, Fat Mick, Hatton, Hobson, old Bazza etc, were unlucky they decided to plug the game when Hearn signed an exclusive contract.
Re: Sky marketing machine
I was only saying to my work mates a few days ago that what BT Sport lacks is a live 24/7 sports news channel.
Amazed they still don't have one.
Re: Sky marketing machine
It is less news and more adverts for their shows.
Re: Sky marketing machine
If Groves v Eubank was on Sky it would be getting massive coverage at just over a month out but as it is now there has been hardly any press coverage.

It should still be a sell out.
Re: Sky marketing machine
Terrible Marketing by ITV and Sauerland TV wise (the tickets sold out in 7 minutes) they (ITV) aren't exactly doing much in the way of promoting Eubank Jnr on there PPV Box Office Channel.
I reckon ITV are waiting to see if he beats Groves then will launch him on ITV1 "free to air" if he does and start showcasing Jnrs fights to spearhead them getting back into Boxing.
They made Khan an offer recently so they definitely want in but Hearn (Sky) grabbed him first
Maybe @Fenster the Prophet can shed some light on how things will pan out ;D
Re: Sky marketing machine
The only thing I regularly watch on ITV is horse racing, I can assure you they plug the fuck out of upcoming ITV fights, constant adverts, and the pundits and presenters bigging it up with the "can't wait" and "can't miss" comments.
It's all about social media today, not TV, how many people actually watch Sky Sports every day? Couple of hundred thousand? Hearn has more twitter followers than that.
Re: Sky marketing machine
Can honestly say I've not seen one advert promoting the Groves v Jnr fight on/in TV, Newspapers or Online, i don't watch horse racing either or ITV much though.
Even "English" and his Monocle seems silent.
I still think ITV are just waiting to see if Jnr can scalp a genuine world class fighter then will back him, throw a shitload of money at him and give him a platform on free to air ITV1 as their new face of Boxing.
Any word on the undercard yet?
Re: Sky marketing machine
Not sure about that, surely ITV want more PPV action not less? If they were now going to invest millions in Jr to give him away "free" they've gone about is arse backwards.
Just 100,000 buys is a couple of million quid in the pot. They best hope the fight does pony numbers otherwise Eubank's in a position to demand an absolute fortune to toe in line with the PPV dosh.
Surely subscription networks (Sky/BT/HBO/Showtime) would give away the mega fights (Joshua/Floyd) instead of increasing the buy rate if they could make more that way?
Re: Sky marketing machine
And the undercard is crap, which is the norm for Sauerland and when a PPV main event gobbles up all the dough (they don't need any help selling it).
Re: Sky marketing machine
I think ITV will expand the ppv boxing because it generates more money, hope it does bomb in sales and they decide to ditch it for free boxing on the channel. More viewers means more advertising revenue.
Look how successful channel 5 have been 😀
Re: Sky marketing machine
ITV and the BBC used to be the main channels for boxing Harry and Reg both great commentators they let boxing go football rugby etc and many other sports now we pay shit but as a fan of boxing and other sports what can we do.!!!!!!
Hearn and Warren have the monopoly on boxing and so do SKY and BT it does not bother me who the promoter is I just want to see good fights
like most fans.:(
